The initial term for the Director of Partnerships, Innovation & Investment is for 12 months through 30 April 2024, with the possibility for extension.

Job Highlight:

In partnership with the Managing Director for Africa and Global Partnerships, you will be responsible for leading and supporting WRI’s vision to “reaffirm our status as a trusted partner for change.” This will include:

Providing senior level expertise on the design, brokering and development of WRI’s inaugural Partnership Strategy Setting the strategic context and rationale for partnering in WRI as a desired approach including the specific benefits to be gained Assessment of existing capacity and the capacity development and institutional change needed to be able to deliver on WRI’s vision to be a “trusted partner for change” Defining WRI’s value proposition and guiding principles as a strategic partner\\Outlining the range of different types of global partnerships and refining which types WRI should focus on aligned with WRI’s strategy Outlining and supporting the implementation of the focus areas for collaborative efforts that the Partnerships Team will lead over the next 1-3 years to bring a systematic approach to partnering in WRI Supporting the development and implementation of signature global partnerships that deliver the greatest strategic value to WRI working from the local to regional to global level Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of WRI’s signature global partnerships

Initial focus of the work for the Director will include:

A shared internal approach and partnership strategy in WRI on the role of partnerships aligned with WRI’s strategy including a statement of WRI’s unique value proposition A clear understanding of the types of global partnerships WRI currently has and which ones it should focus on in future that promotes cost-effective collaboration and synergies with existing and potential partners from local level to global level aligned with WRI’s strategy A strategic integrated approach to partner selection, maintenance and implementation of signature global partnerships based on assessment of WRI’s Fit for Partnering and development and implementation of WRI’s Partnership Playbook The development of a partnerships team and community of champions with supporting materials and training that promote effective partnering A robust monitoring and evaluation framework with relevant and measurable indicators to demonstrate the impact and value added of the contributions from the partnerships team for WRI’s signature global partnerships Support in the development, assessment and implementation WRI’s signature global partnerships (eg scaling the work of the Ruzizi Basins, integrating AFR100 into WRI Africa core priorities, developing the Congo Basin proposal)

What you will need:

Master's degree in sustainable development, business management, environmental science, political science, or other relevant fields.Minimum 15 years of relevant full-time work experience across multiple fields in international development, public private partnerships and environmental fields.Recognized global leader with demonstrated expertise in designing, brokering, delivering, scaling and leading complex global multi-stakeholder partnerships and initiatives.Knowledge and senior-level work experience in at least two or more of economics, corporate sustainability, public-private partnerships, finance, governance, equity, climate, cities, food, forests, water, or oceans.Demonstrated expertise and track record of success in the development and implementation of initiatives related to public-private partnerships, business sustainability, and whole-of-economy transformations (economics, finance, and governance).Highly responsible, self-motivated, with an ability to work in an ambitious and fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.Organized and efficient. Flexible and adaptable.Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English.Willingness and ability to travel internationally if needed (max. 25% of time).

Potential Salary:
