Position Summary:

The Communications Associate (Comms Associate) will provide support to a dynamic communications team that manages numerous corporate and project-related communications activities and products. The Comms Associate will provide high-quality storytelling, writing and marketing support to practice areas and support units across the company. They will also help to produce brand-compliant, multimedia information products (articles, blogs, social media posts, project write ups, fact sheets, for example) that raise awareness and understanding of our international development work and help audiences understand our impact. The Comms Associate will be closely involved in developing social media content across platforms, using industry best practices and techniques. They will also monitor social media audience engagement and analytics to help create strategic content calendars that best represent MSI in the community. The Comms Associate may also be tasked with assisting the Strategic Communications practice area with support including assignment tracking, proposal development, and overall organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage company's presence on social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube profiles) and create content necessary to grow MSI's engagement within the sector
  • Develop unique social media posts, graphics, communications toolkits, shareable products and content targeting multiple audiences
  • Schedule and maintain social media calendar and posts
  • Provide regular analytic reports to the team and identify trends through qualitative and quantitative findings on social media metrics
  • Contribute to writing content for various products including project profiles and one pagers, blogs, articles and stories
  • Collaborate with strategic communications team and other MSI teams to generate content
  • Assist with updates to website content on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Develop system to monitor and schedule regular programmatic content updates and liaise with technical teams to update content
  • Organize and staff key MSI events (both live and virtual)
  • Provide support for external events in terms of collateral materials, social media promotion, website content development, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for communications initiatives and corporate objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field required
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills required
  • Ability to produce clear, compelling and public-ready written content
  • Experience with web and social media analytics and measurement tools is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is preferred
  • Website design skills and experience with content management systems (CMS) is preferred (Drupal, WordPress, etc.)
  • English fluency required, fluency in a second language preferred
