Purpose of Job

CSD uses strategic communication, knowledge exchange, and capacity building to enhance the EBRD’s impact in the green and climate space. Strategic communication comprises developing messages for senior management briefings. It also includes developing communication and knowledge products, organizing high-level events that position the EBRD in the green and climate space as well as building networks and engaging with relevant organizations and initiatives. CSD handles an education and training function to ensure internal capacity building in the green and climate space across the EBRD. The Analyst will support CSD in the area of strategic communication, knowledge exchange, and capacity building by supporting the development of briefing notes, the organization of events, and by developing selected communication and knowledge products.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Develop briefing notes for senior management; this includes conducting desk research, gathering input from experts in CSD and from teams across the EBRD, and developing key messages and narratives.
  • Support all stages of development of green and climate communication and knowledge products.
  • Development and maintenance of a network of specialized communication outlets, such as green newspapers and magazines and other knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Supporting the organization of events, such as events related to the EBRD’s green flagship programs and COPs. This includes supporting the development of event concepts – content, narratives, and formats, liaising with various parties involved (such as internal stakeholders and business partners), and managing external event organizers.

    Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

    • Master’s degree preferred (climate science, political and social sciences, economics, and environmental studies) and ideally relevant experience in communicating climate issues to different audiences.
    • Experience in climate/green communication, including:
    • Developing briefing notes for senior management and operating under tight deadlines
    • Organising events, including concept and content development
    • Developing communication products in the green and climate space
    • Developing training and capacity-building measures
    • understanding of climate science, climate technologies, and business practices; and knowledge of climate policy, including the landscape of climate finance and relevant international actors.
    • Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear and precise messages for different audiences.
    • Ability to work on several tasks at once and ensure delivery of products on time.
    • Sound understanding of relevant communication tools.

      Competences

      • Excellent written/oral communication skills in English and preferably in another language of the Bank (French, Russian, or Arabic).
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, reflecting the external-facing nature of the role and the importance of effective and compelling communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
      • Ability to operate consistently within business guidelines and ethics and work sensitively in multicultural environments, building effective working relations with clients and colleagues.
      • Influencing, negotiation, and real relationship-buildings, with both internal and external partners.
      • Result-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work to and meet tight deadlines and to plan and organize work unsupervised in a logical and efficient manner.
      • Familiarity with the role and requirements of EBRD and/or other international financing institutions and/or development agencies.
      • Experience and familiarity in working with multicultural projects and teams.
