The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Project on Prosperity and Development by advancing new and existing research and by developing those ideas through written pieces, including analytical reports, policy recommendations, and commentaries, and by conducting outreach to donors and other relevant stakeholders. This position will report to the Senior Fellow.

The minimum annual salary for this position is $60,000. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• This position contributes to the development, research, and writing of major reports, publications, and projects for the Project on Prosperity and Development on a variety of development policy issues.
• Contributes to the intellectual vitality of the Center by helping to develop and generate new program research projects and ideas that further the CSIS mission of policy impact.
• Independently works on various aspects of a research project lifecycle, including business development, moderating roundtable conversations, and stewarding donor relationships.
• Provides written analysis for project areas, reports, commentaries, policy briefs, and other CSIS publications.
• Prepares, edits, and distributes written materials including program studies, conference and meeting reports, journal and newspaper articles, executive summaries, etc.
• Develops and manages specific project budgets, ensures expenses are in line with projections, creates budgets for proposals, and oversees adherence to existing project budgets.
• Participates and contributes to budget pipeline discussions.
• Contributes to program business development: writing concept notes, submitting RFP responses, and meeting sponsors.
• Contributes to the grant proposal process to secure support and funding for new initiatives.
• Conducts program events and outreach.
• Supervises staff on specific projects and manages their completion of tasks in a timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• MA/MS with 3+ year(s) of experience relevant to global development, economic growth and the work of the Project on Prosperity and Development Strong research and writing skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to work closely with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds and dispositions.
• Ability to project a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, trustees and CSIS clients.
