Job description

The Private Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development to strengthen the economic development in the Palestinian Territories by improving the competitiveness and resilience of Palestinian businesses. In partnership with key stakeholders and the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy (MoNE), PSDP supports micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) directly and by strengthening the capacities of MoNE, specialized Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and private sector organizations. As a new focus, PSDP added the EU co-financed project “Green Growth Palestine” to its scope and supports the German lead of the Green Economy (GE) component within the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) “Sustainable Growth, Jobs and Resilience”. In this context PSDP supports the transition of MSMEs towards green and inclusive business practices, builds capacities at the MoNE and supporting organizations and together with TEI partners and stakeholders develops, manages, and disseminates knowledge of the GE.

Your tasks

Report to the Head of Operations and coordinate and cooperate closely with your colleagues in PSDP, other relevant GIZ projects and activities of European Development Partners (EDPs) Provide companies, industry organizations and other relevant stakeholders with expert advice on various practical aspects of green transformation such as circular business modells, clean energy and energy efficincy, and input efficiency in production Continue and further develop the information basis for the GE transformation especially regarding knowledge transfer from Europe; build on and further develop the network of national and international actors in the field Co-develop respective training programs with PSDP and colleagues from partner organizations (e.g. EDPs) for companies, industry organizations and service providers Prepare and manage contracts and grants with external service providers and partners according to the rules and regulations of GIZ and contribute to overall project management duties Coordinate with and supplement access to green finance and policy advisory activities of PSDP Coordinate with and supplement the communication, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, reporting and (donor-)coordination activities In coordination with the project management, contribute to the further development of PSDP and positioning of the project in the broader thematic and strategic context Foster an appreciative working culture in a multi-cultural setting

Your profile

Master degree or comparable in engineering, economics or environmental studies Several years of experience in green economy challenges and opportunities (e.g. energy transition, circular business models, process optimization) with a focus on company level implementation and capacity development for businesses and industry organizations; experience in advising companies and industry organizations on technical, financial, and administrative aspects of a green transition Several years of project management experience, preferably in the context of development cooperation projects Experience in managing consultants and consultancy contracts as well as financing agreements Good knowledge of the relevant institutional, regulatory, and supporting organization setup for a GE, especially in Germany and Europe; an existing network of relevant actors is a clear plus Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder settings and actively utilizing cooperations is a must: within the team, across GIZ projects and with EDPs, other partners and our beneficiaries to achieve our goals Business fluent in English and German; knowledge of Arabic is an asset
