About the Position

The Programme Officer (PO) will work directly with civil society, activist groups and media within an Eastern Europe section of Events&Exchanges team. The PO will be responsible for accessing the needs of our target audience and developing capacity building programmes, identifying potential partners and organising events both online and on site, and supporting the alumni community. In addition to the programmatic work, the PO will be developing the tools to measure the long-term impact of our programmes on the participants and their environment. The PO will grow his/her expertise on the assigned country/theme and will be tracking political developments and situation with civic actors in the region and will provide short analytical reports on request.

Primary Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Development of the capacity building workshops, networking events, exchange programmes through the needs-assessment of the target audience;
  • Impact assessment of the conducted programmes;
  • Working with target audience to develop their skillset and potential in cooperation with other programme teams of the Centre;
  • Conducting monitoring visits and research in the field;
  • Representing the Centre’s Events&Exchanges programme at relevant meetings and international events; building and maintaining relationships with international and regional organisations.

Key Requirements

  • Strong interest and in-depth understanding of political and social trends in the region of Eastern Europe; direct in-country experience in Eastern Europe is a must;
  • University degree in international relations, political science, sociology, relevant area studies or other related discipline;
  • Substantive experience with project management, event management and reporting;
  • Excellent communication skills, team-spirit and capacity to work in a multi-national team;
  • At least 3 years of experience of relevant civil society, media work or experience with a donor organisation is an advantage;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Russian and English;
    Excellent computer skills: MS Word and Excel, online communication tools;
  • Advanced cybersecurity literacy is desirable.
