The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the WASH CC projects within the Puntland regions, Somalia.
Generic responsibilities:
Line management of WASH CC project field staff Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures Contribute to CC strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps. Manage and implement delegated portfolio of CC (WASH) projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from PM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality. Provide regular progress reports to PM and AM Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities. Compliance and Safety: Ensuring that WASH operations comply with relevant regulations and safety standards and implementing protocols to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy. Proactively seek and timely follow up on advice and consultations with WASH/Shelter PM on technical matters.Specific responsibilities:
Ensure minimum standards of technical quality in all activities and interventions, which are technically appropriate, realistic, in line with project specific objectives and budget. Undertake contract management and tendering processes of the diverse contractors for WASH hardware and software activities. Plan, coordinate and implement NRC WASH activities (Public Health Engineering and Public Health Promotion) in the Puntland Somalia. Assist the Project Manager in writing project proposals, concept notes and donor reports. Ensure that assessment, programme design and implementation consider needs and vulnerabilities in Puntland, Somalia. Ensure that WASH programme design is informed by and integrated with NRC’s other priority sectors of Protection, Food Security and Livelihoods, Education and Shelter. Prepare and oversee the implementation process to ensure timely delivery of programme activities (for example, monitoring against log frames, individual performance management work plans). Ensure appropriate management and use of NRC resources at all times. Manage project staff on a day-to-day level working with other technical departments, security, logistics, administration, and senior management staff (depending on assignment). Ensure that NRC’s work in WASH programming is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government and represent organization at Interagency Coordination meetings. Ensure proper filing of all project documents. Coordinate and implement the WASH projects according to strategy, proposals, and plans. Assist the Project Manager in developing annual activity and work plans. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities. Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities. Organize trainings for the WASH CC team, relevant partners and beneficiaries Prepare monthly activity/project reports and other reporting as required. Quality control of all WASH activities – travel regularly to all the sites of implementation of WASH activities, ensuring that all activities are in accordance with norms and standards.Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Water Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Health, Hydrology, or Geology. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a WASH Project Coordinator or similar role in a humanitarian/recovery context with INGO. Proven experience in implementing integrated WASH activities, encompassing both software and hardware components. Previous work experience in complex and volatile environments. Demonstrated track record of achieving and documenting results relevant to the responsibilities of the position. Extensive experience may substitute for specific qualifications but not vice versa. Proficiency in using AutoCAD, WaterCAD, or any civil works design software is highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of the context in Puntland, Somalia Expertise in submersible pumps and generator installations. Experience in construction of water and sanitation infrastructure Experience in conducting hydro-geological surveys and borehole drilling supervision.What We Offer:
