ILGA World seeks a Senior Programme Officer to head-up its Gender Identity & Expression and Sex Characteristics Programme (GIESC Programme). The GIESC programme emanates from the programme covering Gender Identity and Gender Expression. It roots in the assessment that violence, discrimination and prejudice of persons of diverse SOGIESC has a common cause: the cis-endosex-heteronormative social model in which gender and sex are perceived as binary, mutually exclusive and a consequence of a person’s body.
The Senior Programme Officer will be the main implementer of the GIESC programme and work with trans and intersex communities alike.

ILGA’s work in these contexts is highly collaborative with our members and trans and intersex communites worldwide. In our advocacy work we seek to connect national level activists and global level UN human rights mechanisms.
The successful candidate will have to be able to navigate both trans and intersex community spaces, as well have a sound background in advocacy work. Being able to offer a solid feminist analysis of our issues and having worked on gender equality is a plus.
The ideal candidate will start working in October 2020.
