Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position is assigned in the Office of Safeguards (OSFG). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
OSFG was established to implement and monitor ADB's safeguards policy and procedures. It supports ADB management, operational departments, and parties, including borrowers/clients in delivering development solutions in compliance with ADB's safeguards policy. The Office of Safeguards has four teams: (i) Policy and Technical Services, (ii) Regional Operations Services 1, (iii) Regional Operations Services 2, and (iv) Private Sector/Pacific Operations Services.
You will report to the Director and will supervise junior team members.
Your Role
As a Safeguards Specialist, you will help implement ADB's environment and social safeguards policy and requirements with a specific focus on gender. You will provide advice and support to ADB operations on the risks and mitigation measures to address gender-related risks in ADB financed projects and support with the development of ADB staff skills and the capacity of ADB developing member countries and clients.

University degree in gender studies, social sciences, development studies, ; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent. At least 6 years of professional experience in gender and social safeguards, including substantial international experience in the Asia-Pacific region. International experience working in several countries. Demonstrated expertise in gender analysis, gender action plan development, and gender-responsive monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge of international best practices in gender-responsive safeguards implementation within the context of development projects, including infrastructure investment. Experience developing gender-sensitive partner engagement strategies. Have a track record in capacity building and training delivery on gender and safeguards. Experience working with multilateral development banks and knowledge of their gender and safeguards policies. Experience communicating complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
