Primary Location

S/he is based in Americas Bureau RET's Administrative Center located in Panama City, with frequent missions to the field.

Reporting Line

S/he reports to the Regional Finance & Administration Coordinator.

Budgeting and Cash Management

  • Responsible for the preparation of the budgets required for new projects proposals under the established standards indicated by donors;
  • Coordinate the regular planning of the budget related to the implementation of the projects;
  • Ensure that all project accounting and financial transactions are always consistent with the specific conditions of each project and donor requirements;
  • Ensure appropriate and safe management of financial resources;
  • Ensure the timely payment of the contractual obligations of the projects;
  • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization;

Accounting and Reporting

  • Ensure proper accounting management, in accordance with International Standards and donors and RET's policies and procedures;
  • Maintain an accurate monitoring of the projects budgets and be able to identify and swiftly report any inconsistencies;
  • Organize, archive and keep in a safe place all physical and digital financial information and sensitive documents;
  • At the end of each period (month / year), the Regional Finance Assistant will generate the monthly accounting report and all documents related to monthly financial reports according to the schedule defined for this purpose;
  • Ensure the preparation of financial reports requested by the donors in established terms and schedule;
  • Ensure the correct management of the accounting and budgetary information on SAGA program, strictly in accordance with RET Financial Manual;

Others

  • Carry out monthly backups (back-up) of all financial information;
  • Provide support and assistance to the administrative staff of national and local offices.
  • To participate un coordination meetings with the Americas Bureau staff and country staff to ensure that programmatic and financial tools and activities are harmonised;
  • To perform other duties as assigned by her/his supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements**

· University degree in Accounting. Certified Public Accountant or equivalent would be an advantage;

  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the field of finance, budget, accounting or related area is required. Experience with the UN Agencies or International NGOs is an advantage.
  • At least two years' experience in carrying out reviews and transactions related to finance, budgeting and accounting through an accounting system is required.
  • Experience carrying out finance, budgeting and accounting related tasks in compliance with International Accounting Standards and financial rules and regulations of international organizations is desirable.
  • Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills; a flexible, creative and collaborative working style.
  • Flexibility to manage different tasks effectively and willingness to put in extra hours when required.
  • Ability to travel internationally, as required.
  • Available immediately.
  • This position is available for one year from the date of appointment. Extension of the appointment is subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
