Project Summary:
The purpose of Nicaragua Youth and Communities Secure, Empowered and Resilient (NYCSER) is to empower youth and their communities to acquire the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to become resilient and better equipped to advocate for their own best interests and security in the current national context of social and political instability and discrimination, including by actively participating in their communities' and nation's decision-making.
Position Summary:
The Project Security Manager's (PSM) overall mission is to proactively engage in protecting the project's greatest assets, its people,as well as the assets entrusted to Creative by its clients through constant analysis of threats and effective implementation of risk mitigation strategies. S/he has the delegated responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of operational field security activities, risk mitigation analysis and protocols, provides continuous security and contextual information to the team and ensures compliance with corporate security policies.
Reporting and Supervision:
The PSM will report to the Chief of Party (COP) with dotted line reporting to the HQ LAC Regional Security and Operations Manager (RSOM).
Primary Responsibilities:
Be able to assist with out-of-hours emergency response for the project staff and partners, if needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required;
At least six (6) years of general work experience with at least four (4) years of security management and/or risk mitigation experience in the context of international development or in the context of providing security to a large team;
Field-based security and crisis management experience;
Experience implementing security policies, procedures, and protocols;
Previous experience with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded projects preferred;
Demonstrated ability to work well in teams and in a collaborative environment;
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, multi-tasker, and flexible work style;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Competent in MS software, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and SharePoint;
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information;
Strong ability to understand the project's goals and objectives and earn the trust and respect of colleagues to enable safe project implementation;
Appreciation of and ability to work effectively in diverse work environments; and
Fluency in Spanish is required; fluency in English is preferred.
