THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Area Manager, the Project Manager – Child Protection is responsible for development and the implementation of the *“Enhancing the protection of vulnerable refugee and host communities in Kakuma, Dadaab, and Nairobi”*** inclusive child protection project, which is part of the HI Kenya sector’s programme strategy. Responsible for strengthening the management and directing the project including capacity assessment and development planning and monitoring. Providing technical guidance and ensuring quality of the implementation of activities as per HI’s standards. Contributing towards the capitalization of experience gained from the project. Coordinating activities with various project partners and interfacing with National and County government authorities, as well as UNHCR and the protection partners in the camps. Promoting the expertise of HI in inclusive child protection, rehabilitation, disability mainstreaming and inclusion among the community/local/national authorities, partners and donors. Ensuring compliance by all people involved in the project with HI policies on Safeguarding.
S/he will be responsible for
1. Overall operational management and technical quality of the project:
1.1 Implementation of the activities
1.1.1 Be in charge of the implementation of the project respecting all the requirements detailed in the project proposal(s) agreed with the donor(s) (logical framework, workplan, monitoring plan etc.) as well as HI technical specificities.
1.1.2 Responsible for the implementation of the project through the various stages of project cycle in close collaboration with UNHCR and partners, local authorities and the relevant ministries.
2.1 Technical support of the project / capacity building and training:
2.1.2 Participates in the development, implementation and technical monitoring of various project activities.
2.1.3 Lead the project in a qualitative approach of activities
3.1 Data collection, monitoring and evaluation
3.1.1 In charge of the implementation and the respect of HI Monitoring and Evaluation policy which includes:
A planning and monitoring tool
A quality appraisal tool
A monthly progress report
The organization of 3 quarterly progress review and one full annual review
4.1 Reporting
4.1.1 In charge of the writing and making timely submission of the reports requested by the donor(s) taking into account the time required by the different validation steps mission level, technical advisors, HQ, National agencies.
5.1 Development
5.1.1 Liaising with Technical advisors and Area manager in the development of the project strategies, interventions and approaches
6.1 Visibility
6.1.1 Ensure that the visibility policy defined by the donor and HI is respected and implemented (stickers, banners, logos, etc.)
2. Child Protection Policy
3.Supervision of financial, logistic and material resources of the project implementation
4. Management and supervision of staff under his/her line management
5. Establishing and maintaining linkages with partners
6. Contribute towards the capitalization of experience
7. Respect of HI identity, rules and policies
Qualifications and skills required:
Education :
At least a Bachelor Degree in psychology, social sciences, community development, law or a related area of study.· At least 3 years of practical project management experience within INGO working in the field of child protection, sexual gender based violence and / or disability.
Previous experience in working in supporting vulnerable children (particularly children with disabilities) is essential.
Experience in technical support to team / partners in the field of child protection, gender-based violence, and/or disability is essential. (Training, evaluation)
