ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of mission in Cote d’Ivoire, the candidate will support the implementation of various programmes and research activities as well as contribute to the development of projects. The duration of an internship assignment varies in length and lasts a minimum of 3 to 6 months, renewable up to a maximum of 9 months according to the availability and academic requirements of the intern, as well as the needs of IOM programmes.

RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, the intern will be in charge of the following activities:

  1. Contribute to the preparation of project and mission reports, briefings, updates according to IOM cote d’Ivoire, RO Dakar and donor’s formats, and meeting the deadlines
  2. Support the organisation of events in relation to the programmes, in coordination with the relevant programme manager and colleagues
  3. Support IOM Cote d’Ivoire research activities where and if relevant
  4. Draft letters and any other requested document;
  5. Draft meeting reports, minutes and NFF’s both for internal and external use
  6. Participate in the development of overviews, recommendations as well as background and information material for donors, partners and other IOM missions
  7. Support programme manager and project officers in the implementation of activities under the diverse projects of IOM Cote d’Ivoire
  8. Provide logistic and administrative support to projects
  9. Perform such other relevant duties as may be assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Political Science, international Law, International studies or related field;
  • Interest in the field of migration;
  • Knowledge of the security context in the Western and Central African region
  • Experience in report writing and project development is an asset

LANGUAGES

Fluency in French and English is required.
