Role Overview
The mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) Technical Officer will be responsible for technical oversight of comprehensive MHPSS-focused intervention. The intervention is part of the United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) Women and Girls First program and aims to increase the capacity of social workers working in local Women and Girls First Centers, government officials, and staff of (inter)national development partners in Kachin/Rakhine State in compliance with Inter-Agency Standing Committee's (IASC) Guidelines for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings.

The volunteers will be based at the UNFPA office and work with/for the Women & Girls First Centers which act as a women and girls' refuge and provide access and services to women and girls only.

The volunteers will be based in Kachin/Rakhine States for 12 months.

The volunteers will work closely with VSO Social Inclusion and Gender, Social Accoun tability and Resilience Advisors to ensure inclusion, resilience and accountability in women empowerment and financial inclusion initiatives.

Ideal Applicant Summary

Knowledge/qualifications/experience
* The qualified candidate will have a Master's degree in a relevant discipline (for example, clinical or counselling psychology, clinical social work, psychiatry, mental health care and others) coupled with experience in working on MHPSS programs.
* Familiarity with the Integrative ADAPT Therapy treatment approach is essential.

Skills/Abilities:
* Extensive experience of providing training and supervision to others within the discipline and the ability to adapt approaches to conflict-affected and culturally sensitive settings.
* Ability and willingness to work in challenging environments, with basic living conditions (for example, refugee camp setting).
* Ability to work within a team structure or in isolation, flexible, and can work well under pressure and with limited resources.
* Ability to be open minded and respectful in new settings.
* Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a time-sensitive environment.
* Good command of verbal and written English.
* Ability to work remotely.

Due to the on going COVID situation, the volunteer will be working as an e-volunteer until Myanmar border is opened for international travel.

Terms & Conditions

E-volunteers
* You will be sharing your skills remotely from your home country with implementing partners and other stakeholders on a part-time basis.
* You have an existing source of income to cover your commitments and you have the basic equipment to carry out this assignment e.g. laptop, internet connectivity. VSO will not provide a monthly allowance for this role but will reimburse basic operational costs (e.g. internet costs).
