The World Bank Group’s (WBG) Ethics and Internal Justice Services Vice Presidency (EIJ) brings together, under a single umbrella, the WBG’s approach to values, ethics and the resolution of workplace conflict. EIJ’s vision is to foster a values-based workplace culture and help staff uphold the WBG’s ethical standards. EIJ provides an integrated, empathetic and efficient approach to resolving workplace conflict, allowing staff to focus with urgency on the WBG’s mission. EIJ is seeking to recruit a Manager to work in its Investigations Unit (INV), and who will report to the Director, Mediation & Formal Services Department (MFR). INV conducts independent fact-finding investigations into allegations of staff misconduct.The selected candidate will demonstrate excellent people management skills and strong performance management capabilities by providing staff with candid and ongoing feedback. The selected candidate will also lead the creation of a positive, respectful and trusting work environment, with a high level of team motivation, proactivity, innovation and problem-solving.
Duties and accountabilities:
Selection Criteria
A background in law, criminal justice, or another relevant field;Masters’ degree, ideally in law, with a minimum of 12 years of experience conducting investigations, or serving in a similar capacity in an international public organization or private multi-national corporation, or equivalent combination of education and experience;Proven track record of building and managing multi-disciplinary teams and creating an enabling work environment;High level of integrity, discretion and sound judgment in working with sensitive issues;Demonstrated interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with experience in leading teams, both internally and collaboratively across departments;Creative, strategic and independent thinker. Ability to conceptualize ideas independently and through co-creation and translate these into actions, driving uptake;Strong negotiation skills and the ability to maintain an overview of the broader picture, considering precedent-setting implications while adopting a case-by-case approach;Effective and persuasive communicator (both orally and in written English) able to clearly and concisely articulate positions; able to deliver presentations to the WBG’s Boards of Directors as well as Senior Management; Effectively deal with complexity, ambiguity and crisis, with confidence; andWillingness to travel as and where necessary.
