DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance is dedicated to improving the security of states and their people within a framework of democratic governance, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. The Resources Department, created in June 2018, is responsible for providing central services and is comprised of three pillars; Human Resources & Administration Unit, Financial Resources Unit and Organizational Development & Support Services.

For our department, which continues to evolve, we are looking for a well-rounded, experienced and committed individual to be our next:

Finance Officer (100 %)

Location: Geneva

Starting date: As soon as possible

Duration: Permanent

The role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled individual who is highly detail-oriented, works well in a team-oriented environment, and proficient in SWISS GAAP.

The Finance Officer is also responsible for supporting the Finance Operational Controller and the Grant and Controlling Officer in conducting key activities.

This role involves dealing with stakeholders throughout the organization, especially with the admin and finance officers of the divisions.

Key areas of operation:

ACCOUNTING:

· Accounting and monitoring of expenditures and income

· Accounting and bank reconciliation for HQ and for all field offices

· Bookkeeping and execution of payments

· Year-end closing exercise incl. a consolidation of another legal entity

· Payment of monthly salaries (HQ and Field office staff)

· Ensure salary costs are correctly accounted between core and project -funded staff

· Supporting project teams in project audit

· Creating coding and managing analytical dimensions in Navision

· Assisting in developing paperless workflow for finance onto SharePoint

· Assists in documenting existing and proposed accounting processes

YOUR EXPERIENCE

· 3 -4 years’ experience with non-profit organizations in bookkeeping and accounting

· Relevant degree in Accounting or equivalent

· Show pride in work and in achievements; demonstrate professional competence and mastery of subject matter

· Able to handle multiple and sometimes competing priorities

· Proven well-rounded, team player, with excellent interpersonal skills

· Strong IT skills; excellent knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Navision; strong MS Office skills in particular strong Excel modelling (pivots, formulae);

· Strong command of English, both written and spoken; French a plus

· Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at the time of application is a pre-requisite
