Summary
This position is responsible for the managing and execution of department systems and operations, effectively and efficiently, to achieve maximum results for children. The role provides oversight and guidance for department budgeting, award management, strategic planning and reporting. It is also responsible for maintaining clear communications within the department ensuring everyone is updated as needed on activities related to International Programs well as other divisions within SCUS, members and SCI. The Director will strengthen department financial management in coordination with the Associate Vice President and senior directors to create transparency across teams, ensuring strategic allocation of resources. This position works across all teams within the department to ensure quality and efficient support is provided to all donor funded projects (both public and private). The position is responsible for oversight for all of the Department of Education and Child Protection’s funding, ensuring donor compliance, timely programming and spending, mitigating risks were possible, and flagging potential risks to senior leadership when appropriate. The Director will work across the agency to define best practices around financial management and award management for the department and international programs. The position also represents the department internally and Save the Children externally when appropriate.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Department Financial Oversight (35%)
DECP Portfolio Management (20%)
Proposal Development Coordination (15%)
Department leadership, operational and strategic administration (30%)
Ensure the timely development of quarterly business team reports
Steer department’s annual planning process including goal trees, fundraising targets, and associated home office and SCI award budgets for DECP managed funding
Serve as point person within DECP for operational issues for areas such as Travel policies and practices, Finance policies, HR related issues including operationalizing seconded staff, managing merit/promotion process, representing DECP’s issues
Oversee new business development processes for the department, consolidating public fundraising information for DECP to include both CP and Education pipelines
Ensure all proposals that have been prioritized, are properly resourced and tracked for maximum results.
Ensure orientation and training for DECP finance, program support and admin staff
Identify staff development opportunities to build capacity of finance and project management team
Prepare and disseminate to DECP finance and project management guidance and conduct internal training, with support from SC Finance and Grants/Contract Departments
Serve as a member of the DECP Senior Management Team and participate accordingly.
