RBM Partnership to End Malaria
The RBM Partnership to End Malaria is the global platform for coordinated action against malaria. It mobilizes for action and resources and forges consensus among partners. The Partnership is comprised of more than 500 partners committed to end malaria, including malaria endemic countries, their bilateral and multilateral development partners, the private sector, nongovernmental and community-based organizations, foundations, and research and academic institution.

The RBM partnership's strength lies in its ability to form effective partnerships both globally, regionally and nationally. Partners work together to scale up malaria-control and elimination efforts at country level, coordinating their activities to avoid duplication and fragmentation, and to ensure optimal use of resources. The partnership’s overall strategy aims to reduce malaria morbidity and mortality by reaching universal coverage of at risk populations and strengthening health systems.

The RBM Partnership is seeking a Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) to support the CEO in managing the RBM Partnership Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, and representing the Partnership at the global level. The RBM Partnership Secretariat is hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Functions

Under the direct supervision of the CEO of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, the Deputy Chief Executive(DCE) will have the following responsibilities:
Stakeholder Management

Education

  • Masters Degree preferably in Public Health or similar field with direct relevance to international health.
  • 2 additional years of relevant work experience, in combination with a relevant first level university (bachelor’s degree or equivalent), may substitute for the requirement of a master’s degree.

    Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working with developing countries in the international public health field. This should include substantial experience of working closely with national counterparts in the host country,

  • including Ministers of Health, national malaria control programmes and other relevant department(s) within the Ministry of Health

  • Strong Malaria technical knowledge and experience is highly desirable

  • Experience of public health policy formulation and implementation, preferably in a developing country environment is highly desirable

  • Proven knowledge of the donor environment for malaria and the funding mechanisms of key donors, e.g. the Global Fund, US PMI, etc.

  • Strong networking skills and in depth knowledge and experience of working with key implementing partners active in malaria prevention and control, including international NGOs is desirable

  • Experience in health systems strengthening highly desirable

  • Proven track record in resource mobilization is desirable

  • Excellent diplomatic and communication skills is desirable

Language requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
  • Knowledge of French is an asset
  • Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is an asset
