The international work of ZOA is coordinated from the Netherlands. ZOA is active in multiple countries in Africa, South America, Middle East Region and Asia. ZOA works with approximately 900 employees worldwide and also with (local) partners.

ZOA is looking for a Consortium Coordinator for WeAreAble!

Your challenge

The Consortium Coordinator coordinates the implementation of the WeAreAble! Consortium, consisting of four (I)NGOs, namely ZOA as lead, the African Disability Forum (ADF), The Leprosy Mission (TLM) and Light for the World (LftW). In addition, The Hague Academy (THA) and Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten Internationaal (VNGi) have been subcontracted under this grant.

The consortium works in six African States (Burundi, DR Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia) as well as in the Netherlands and has as main objective ‘Co-creating inclusive governance for access to basic resources that leaves no-one behind’. WeAreAble! is being financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Power of Voices subsidiary framework and runs from January 1st 2021 until December 31st 2025.

Your main tasks and responsibilities

The Consortium Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the consortium and for ensuring quality implementation in all seven countries.

Main tasks:

  1. Conduct preparation for the programme, to ensure a swift start within the framework and structures as agreed in the consortium.

  2. Monitor the implementation of the programme according to the proposal submitted and adjust and align where necessary in cooperation with the content working group and the respective country steering committee.

  3. Ensure communication with the lead organization per country and provide coaching and coordination of the lead organizations in each country plus facilitate exchange and learning between countries and partners.

  4. Monitor and support the shift of power towards Southern based partners.

  5. Reviewing and providing feedback on Monitoring and Evaluation Reports in collaboration with the MEAL advisor.

  6. Communicate with the Executive Board on progress made during the implementation phase.

  7. Chair the Consortium working group and keep a close connection with the chair of the Content working group.

  8. Functions as the interface between the We are Able! Consortium and the Dutch Foreign Ministry as well as other Consortia under the Power of Voices framework.

  9. Ensure that the contractual obligations under Power of Voices are being met, including the timely submission of reports of sufficient quality.

  10. Provide line management to the MEAL Coordinator (0,5 FTE) and Finance Coordinator (0,5 FTE) of the Consortium.

Your profile

Knowledge

· University degree in the field of international development or similar

· At least 10 years of experience in the International Development Sector, of which at least 5 in a senior management position

· Experience in the coordination of multi-countries/ multi-annual plans in complex consortia

· Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: Food security, inclusion and gender, lobby & advocacy, MEAL

· A strong vision and commitment towards localization.

· Command of English and preferably French

· Knowledge and experience in at least one of the focus countries of the consortium

Attitude

· High level of networking capacities, with interpersonal, organizational and intercultural sensitivity

· Able to plan and coordinate and work in an organized manner

· Able to bridge differences and bring people together

Special conditions

The Consortium Coordinator will be based in the Netherlands, at ZOA’s HQ in Apeldoorn. However regular field visits to the relevant countries are being anticipated (average 3-6 times per year). The field visits will be both short term as well longer term (multiple weeks) visits.**
