Sightsavers is seeking an experienced and committed Project Officer to lead the highly successful and established Accelerate programme in Guinea. This is an exciting time to join Sightsavers and this position is key to ensuring the continued progress of this remarkable programme, aiming to eliminate trachoma in a number of countries including Guinea.

As Accelerate Project Officer, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme to the highest possible standards whilst working closely with colleagues from across Sightsavers as well as programme partners to identify areas for growth and developing new initiatives.

You will utilise your background in NTD programme implementation to support all aspects of Accelerate and to coordinate the activities of Accelerate partners in Guinea, whilst developing and supporting these partnerships and promoting shared learning and collaboration. You will also assist in the preparation of budgets, monitor the expenditure of the programme and be proactive in providing and disseminating good quality information about Accelerate.

This is a highly involved role and we are looking for someone who demonstrates excellent leadership skills, the ability to initiate change and improvement and an excellent understanding of the operational aspects of NTDs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

· Degree in Relevant Field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Education) or equivalent experience

· Experience of working in an NGO/INGO environment

· A strong background in NTD programme implementation

· Experience of all aspects of project management in community development programmes including project budgets, forecasts and reports

· Experience in working with the Guinea Health Service

· Excellent English language and communication skills are essential

Interviews: Expected to take place the week commencing 17 August. Dependent on the Covid-19 situation at this time and also on candidate’s location, interviews will take place at Conakry sightsavers office where hygiene process such as distancing and the wearing of masks will be observed. Where this is not possible, interviews will take place online using online software.
