Background
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is active in around 130 countries every year. With field presences in over 80 countries, UNV is represented worldwide. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). UNV is headquartered in Bonn, Germany, with a field presence through 6 regional offices and 50+ field units.
Organisational setting
The Capacity Development team, which is part of the Human Resources Section (HRS) leads the design and delivery of all learning activities for UN Volunteers serving with UN agencies globally. The UNV Programme actively supports learning and capacity development for all volunteers, providing a conducive environment and opportunities for all volunteers to develop key skills and competencies.
UNV provides serving UN Volunteers with access to learning programmes and services which include but are not limited to the UN volunteer learning platform (UNV e-Campus), volunteer onboarding portal, UN mandatory courses (online) and UNV e-courses, LinkedIn Learning, Rosetta Stone, Coursera, UNITAR online courses and individual coaching. Workshops and onsite learning programmes on the ground are regularly offered to specific target audiences at the local and regional levels. Depending on business priorities learning programmes focused on strategic initiatives are delivered as well.
Objectives, responsibility and description of work
The consultant will support the work of the CD team by supporting the delivery of virtual and online learning programmes for UN Volunteers and staff. These include: 1) virtual learning programmes being designed and delivered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as a result of which onsite (face-to-face) workshops can no longer be held. Delivery of such workshops is being piloted during Q2 of 2020 and will be scaled up during the second half of the year; 2) online tutorials for staff and volunteers to support rollout of new ‘conditions of service for UN Volunteers’; and 3) online learning products focusing on ‘digital transformation’. The consultant will be briefed on the learning programmes and services available for UN Volunteers serving with UN agencies globally. Tasks will include the planning of virtual workshops, coordinating inputs with and from subject matter experts; communication with participants, collaboration with external trainers and vendors; preparation of workshop materials, analysis of surveys and support of the training delivery. The consultant will work onsite and remotely reporting to the Capacity Development Associate and to the Learning Specialist in the CD team. S/he will be a full member of CD team and work as part of the broader Human Resources Section; hence s/he will have exposure to the entire range of activities managed by the team.

Institutional arrangements
Duration of work
The duration of this assignment is 7 months. The expected start date is 15 August 2020.
Duty station
The assignment will be home-based and onsite UNV Headquarters in Bonn, Germany.

Education
Completed secondary education.
Experience
Language requirement:
Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement. Fluency in French and Spanish is an advantage.
Criteria for Selection of the Best offer
The selection of the best offer will be based on the combined scoring method – where the qualifications and methodology will be weighted – 70% and combined with the price offer which will be weighted 30%. UNV may conduct interviews with the shortlisted candidates prior to final evaluation.
