Job Background:

  • Concern is in the final year of a three year, EU and Irish Aid funded campaign entitled 1Planet4All, which seeks to support youth in taking action for Climate Justice at local and global level.
  • The 1Planet4All campaign involves 14 INGOs across 12 EU member countries
  • In the first two years of the campaign Concern has engaged with youth through facilitating workshops, on social media, with partner organisations and creating a pilot programme with Youthreach centres called ClimACT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver a series of online workshops that build on the work already undertaken with Youthreach centres
  • Mentor youth leaders to increase their confidence and skills in working with youth on Climate Justice issues
  • Support the work of 1Planet4All with partner organisations NYCI and Smashing Times Theatre company
  • Increase youth engagement across social media and assist in delivering in-person events (public health advice on Covid permitting)
  • Keep a detailed record of quantitative and qualitative data for reporting purposes

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

Essential:

  • At least three years experience working with youth
  • Project managing and mentoring skills
  • Experience organising, facilitating and following up on workshops with youth
  • Extensive experience in Climate Justice issues at a local and global level
  • Experience of social media engagement and online campaigning
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including experience of writing for social media and report writing
  • Ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities and to work independently to own deadlines
  • Active commitment to promote diversity, equity and the interests of marginalised people
  • Educated to degree level
