The research assistant will undertake the following:

• Conduct desk-based research and compile international, regional and national frameworks, policies, strategies, action plans, and other documents related to gender equality and women's empowerment in the Arab region.
• Organize compilations and ensure they are devised per country and include specific information and proper links to be uploaded on the web platform.
• Work closely with team members and the Information Technology department as necessary to support with the development of the web platform including the setup of country pages and content provision.
• Work closely with team members and the Information Technology department to support the development of two interactive web features related to global and regional indices to measure ESCWA Member States's progress on gender equality and women's empowerment. Work Location

Three months (June to August 2022) Duties and Responsibilities

The overall objective of the assignment is to support with the development of a web platform to allow ESCWA clients to accesss country specific data and information, policies, strategies and action plans and training materials.

The research assistant will be responsible for compiling country-specific information and documents and organizing it in a suitable way with proper links to support the IT department with the development of a web platform. The consultant will also support with the development and advancement of two interactive features using various global and regional indices to measure the progress on gender equality and women's empowerment in the Arab region.

The research assistant will work with team members in Cluster 2:
Gender Justice, Population and Inclusive Development\" of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. He/she will report to the designated officer in Cluster 2. Qualifications/special skills

Skills: Faimiliarity with gender equality issues in the Arab region is a must. Research, organization and coordination skills required. Technical skills in using the internet and Microsoft Office features including Word and Excel.
Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies and/or related field is required.
Experience: At least two years of working experience in research, data compilation and organization of information is required.
The below skills are desirable:
- Comprehensive knowledge of gender equality and women's empowerment in the Arab region.
- Familiarity with national gender machineries in the Arab region is a plus.
- Excellent organization and coordination skills.
Language: Fluency in English and Arabic language is required.
