UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, education

For this task, services of two national individual consultants will be contracted for a total of 60 working days (32 days for consultant 1 and 28 days for consultant 2) over a period of four months to work with UNICEF Lebanon Country Office, and the UNICEF Office of Research – Innocenti to aid the preparation and implementation of fieldwork and the management of data.

Objectives, Purpose and Expected results: The purpose of the consultant service will be to prepare and undertake qualitative data collection at various levels of the Akelius programme, specifically drawing data from three learning centres for non-lebanese refugee learning centers/learning centers across Lebanon.

The selected consultants will work closely with experts from UNICEF Refugee and Migrant Response Team in Lebanon, and UNICEF Office of Research – Innocenti, and are expected to: i) possess excellent knowledge of French, English and Arabic, be familiar with local customs and practices; ii) possess experience of qualitative data collection, and specifically on focus group discussion and in-depth interviews; iii) provide details in advance through an inception report on how they will manage the field work in learning centers based upon the sample, and mitigate potential risks and ethical issues of the data collection.

How can you make a difference?

The consultants will be involved in the preparation, field work, and post-fieldwork activities of FGDs and interviews, contributing to the evidence base on the effects of the Akelius learning platform on children’s learning. UNICEF and partners expect the data collection to directly feed into the analysis of effects, usability and programme improvement in the country. The analysis will serve as empirical evidence for a country report to be drafted by UNICEF upon the completion of data collection.
