The position will be based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Project Background

USAID Tajikistan Tuberculosis (TB) Bilateral Activity is a five-year project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). USAID Tajikistan Tuberculosis (TB) Bilateral Activity aims to reduce the burden of TB in the Republic of Tajikistan. The project activity results are focused on improving case detection and notification for all forms of TB, increasing the number of patients cured of all forms of TB, strengthening TB prevention by expanded preventive treatment and improved infection prevention and control (IPC) interventions, and strengthening TB system resilience/reliance in public health emergencies.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the AR1, 2, and 3 Lead, the Treatment & Clinical Monitoring & Patient Support Advisor will provide technical support and guidance to TB Care, Support, and Treatment activities under the project. This position monitors technical activities, supports development of technical strategies, designs and conducts training and activities, and provides overall management and administrative support to project activities. Her/his responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the TB treatment, clinical monitoring and patient support component of the project
  • Work in close collaboration with national counterparts to provide the technical assistance required to fulfill national objectives and targets, especially these related to TB treatment, clinical monitoring and patient support
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to implementing partners and the NTP in the planning, implementation, and reporting of TB treatment, clinical monitoring and patient support as per national policies
  • Provide onsite and on-the-job technical assistance as required and requested as part of overall capacity building and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert advice in preparation of training materials, SOPs, job aids and deliver trainings to implementing partners, NTP and others, as required
  • Provide technical support for implementation of the project activities related to TB treatment, clinical monitoring and patient support
  • Collaborate closely with the AR 1, 2, 3 Lead and project team members to deliver project activities as per the project goals and strategies with quality, on-time and as per the approved work plan
  • Provide technical support in the development and dissemination of tools, materials, reports, papers, and intervention for research projects as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the writing, editing and finalization of work plans, presentations, technical reports and documents. Assist with publications, web pages, and presentations.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the AR1,2, and3 Lead.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Medical degree preferred; Master’s degree in medical sciences, public health, or its international equivalent, in biological sciences within a clinical or diagnostic discipline or specialty.
    • At least 8 years’ experience working with TB or other infectious diseases and/or in clinical support
    • Proven experience in clinical quality assurance, quality control and patient support procedures
    • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills
    • Proven experience working with government officials, particularly the Ministry of Health, community clinics, and local municipalities is highly desirable
      • Any relevant Tajik professional qualifications are an advantage
      • Fluency in English and Tajik is required
      • Position open to Tajik nationals or individuals who have the legal authority to work in Tajikistan
