Job Overview/Summary: Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Translator/ Cultural Mediator provides support services on communication and documentation issues.

Major Responsibilities:

● Assist in communication with IRC staff, national staff, beneficiaries and/ or any other relevant parties

● Provide translation and interpretation of documents and information

● Assist in documentation and referrals

● Assist in collection of information and data and case identification

● Assist in planning and conducting visits at sites

● Support dedicated activities at the site

● Conduct administrative duties as required

Job Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree in Translations, social sciences, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in an English speaking context

● Experience working at international development programs highly desirable

● Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Kurdish and/or Pashto and ability to translate into English and vice versa

● Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures

● Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

● Responsiveness to queries and referrals as and when needed and ability to manage a varying workload

● Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people

● Experience in translation/ interpretation services

● Experience of working with refugees and vulnerable groups of people
