Project Summary:

The USAID/Honduras Sembrando Esperanza (SEA) project will build the capacity of vulnerable youth and communities to work on violence prevention strategies and reduce the risk of irregular migration. SEA will develop peaceful and protective environments, strengthen the relationships among youth, their families, communities, and local authorities and provide services to youth, families and communities. In doing so, SEA will be better positioned to respond to the needs of violence-affected youth and their communities, support the reduction of irregular migration, and foster greater resilience in Honduras.

Position Description:

Creative Associates International is seeking a Technical Director for Violence Prevention (TD) for the USAID funded community violence and irregular migration prevention bid in Honduras.

Project Duration: 5 years

Position Summary:

The Technical Director for Violence Prevention will work in concert with the Chief of Party (COP), providing sound operational management in support of the implementation of the violence prevention programming. He or she will support the COP in all technical, operational, and management aspects of the violence prevention portfolio to ensure that all appropriate reporting requirements are met.

Reporting & Supervision:

The TD will report to the project's Chief of Party.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overall technical advisory services and expertise to the project and serves as the primary liaison on matters pertaining to the differentiated risk approaches in this Activity.
  • Leadership role in coordinating with USAID, other implementing partners, local partners, other donors, and any other key stakeholders on technical matters relating to violence prevention services.
  • Working in complex environments on differentiated risk or secondary/tertiary level risk programs that deliver impact.**Qualifications**

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six years of experience working on secondary and tertiary violence prevention, juvenile justice, research and/or policy in Honduras or Latin America.
  • An undergraduate degree in political science, law, public policy, strategic management, social science, or a related field is required. Master's degree or equivalent in any of the above-mentioned fields is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with at-risk youth and other vulnerable groups.
  • Spanish level IV (Fluent) - Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
  • English Level II (Limited knowledge) - Reading/Writing/Speaking is required
