Project Summary:

The USAID/Honduras Sembrando Esperanza (SEA) project will build the capacity of vulnerable youth and communities to work on violence prevention strategies and reduce the risk of irregular migration. SEA will develop peaceful and protective environments, strengthen the relationships among youth, their families, communities, and local authorities and provide services to youth, families and communities. In doing so, SEA will be better positioned to respond to the needs of violence-affected youth and their communities, support the reduction of irregular migration, and foster greater resilience in Honduras.

Position Summary:

Creative Associates International (Creative) is seeking a Technical Director for Migration ( TDM) for the USAID-funded community violence and irregular migration prevention bid in Honduras.

The TDM will provide strategic direction to and support the design and implementation of a broad range of irregular migration prevention activities that will inform a diverse group of program stakeholders for an upcoming bid in Honduras.

The TDM will work closely across the teams to engage with key stakeholders to guide the design of products that demonstrate changes in irregular migration in Honduras.

Reporting & Supervision:

The TDM will report to the Chief of Party.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

The TDM will have principal responsibility for:

  • Providing technical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction in defining strategies for the reduction in irregular migration and mechanisms to articulate strategies with advocacy.
  • Working closely with project staff and stakeholders to design and implement an evidence-based strategy with a trauma-sensitive prevention approach, that directly engages youth and families in target areas of Honduras.
  • Identification of opportunities that promote strategic engagement between government, civil society and cooperation to reduce irregular migration.
  • Compile relevant data regarding irregular migration and elaborate reports.
  • Provide technical guidance to overall project management, including supporting the M&E team with relevant data monitoring.
  • Ensuring that program activities are aligned with achieving overall human security program objectives.
  • Write quarterly updates on indicators related to irregular migration and the program, and provide information for the quarterly program reports, and annual reports. Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in political science, law, public policy, strategic management, social science, or a related field is required. Master's degree or equivalent in any of the above-mentioned fields is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working on irregular migration and/or displacement due to violence in complex operating environments.
  • Minimum of fiveyears' experience working in the area of migration and community development.
  • Experience working with displaced populations and at-risk youth.
  • Experience coordinating with diverse entities working on the topic of irregular migration.
  • Understanding of the Honduran context.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Speaking, writing, and reading fluency in Spanish required.
  • English Level II (Limited knowledge) - Reading/Writing/Speaking is preferred.
