Tetra Tech International Development (www.tetratech.com/intdev) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a resident Deputy Chief of Party (COP)-Technical for an anticipated USAID Ethiopia Food and Agriculture System Transformation (FAST) Activity. The five-year USAID-funded program in Ethiopia seeks to increase access to healthy diets, particularly for women and children, by improving competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of the food and agriculture system. The position is full-time and is contingent upon contract award.

Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Party (COP) and in coordination with project technical staff and external partners, the DCOP will ensure the timely and effective delivery of project activities and results. The DCOP will provide technical leadership for one or more project components, support the COP in project management and donor relations, and serve as the technical and program point of contact in the absence of the COP. This is a five-year fixed-term appointment with benefits.

Position responsibilities:

* Oversees planning, coordination, and day to day implementation of technical activities in partnership with technical team members and the COP
* Provides technical expertise and supports annual activity work planning and adaptive management of Activity as needed in accordance with the Activity’s objectives and targets
* Assists in coordinating Activity implementation, providing support to personnel and subcontractor management, and efficient budgeting and financial management, as needed
* Oversees technical activities and ensures interventions align with targets as set in the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) plan
* Ensures compliance with USAID rules and regulations

Required skills:

* A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, agriculture, economics, international development, or another relevant field. A Master’s degree preferred.
* At least (7) seven years of experience working in a progressively responsible capacity for agriculture, food security and nutrition, market systems and/or other relevant technical areas for USAID and other donor-funded projects in Ethiopia or East Africa
* At least three (3) years in a senior-level director- or manager-level position, leading complex programming in an international development project context. USAID experience preferred.
* Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary development program teams and stakeholders
* Proven experience fostering collaborative learning and adaptive management, and integrating social inclusion with women, youth, and other vulnerable populations in project activities
*Fluency in English (written and spoken) required. Amharic language skills a plus.
