The position is to be filled by January 1, 2022, with a contract duration of two years. At the end of the initial two-year contractual period, there are good prospects for conversion of the contract from a fixed-term to an open-ended employment contract. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.
The overarching goal of the Sector Strategy, Knowledge & Learning Unit is the continuous quality improvement of the programme work in Welthungerhilfe's project countries. As Team Leader of our Technical Team, you will be responsible for the strategic and conceptual development of programmatic approaches together with a team of experts, while at the same time promoting learning within the organization. This is done in close cooperation with our 27 Country Offices, which are responsible for programme implementation within the framework of humanitarian aid and development cooperation.
Your team members bring expertise in nutrition, agriculture, WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene), economic development, skills development and civil society. Together, you will work to connect the different sectors into impactful programmes of sustainable and climate resilient food security to successfully achieve our strategic goal of "One Planet- Zero Hunger". You will apply systemic approaches and ensure that Welthungerhilfe's cross-cutting themes (Do no harm, Gender, etc.) are embedded in all sectors.
A university or polytechnic degree with relevance to the organization's focus (sustainable food security, food systems, climate resilient development)
At least five years of professional experience in a development context, also in relevant thematic programmes abroad
Several years of proven leadership experience
Experience with systemic approaches (e.g. market systems analysis) and with organization-wide learning
Experience with agile methods as well as analytical thinking
Willingness to cooperate and succeed in building internal and external networks
Readiness to go on business trips in Germany and abroad
A very good command of written and spoken English; knowledge of German and French is an advantage
