People in Need (PIN) is calling for applications for the position of a Team Lead for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support within East European Program of the Centre for Human rights and Democracy (HRD).
The primary goal of People in Need's Centre for Human Rights and Democracy is to support independent individuals and groups in countries with repressive regimes who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society in countries that are going through democratic transformation. PIN Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Program aims to support human rights defenders at risk by providing them with different types of psychosocial support, individual and organizational, as well as temporary relocation in emergency situations.
The East European Program is currently focusing on support of civil society in Eastern Partnership and Central Asia countries. The main programmatic focus includes:

  • Capacity building for civil society organisations and support for their activities;
  • Direct aid to politically persecuted individuals and their families;
  • Psychosocial support to activists and civil society organizations;
  • International advocacy.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of PIN MHPSS Team and Program: strategic planning, ensuring effective operation, evaluation
  • Direct work with donors and local partners (HRDs, activists) for the better understanding of their needs, collection of the feedback on PIN’s implemented MHPSS activities
  • In collaboration with project managers of the team - development of MHPSS manuals, program description, instructions stipulating program operation in the relevant countries and regions
  • Organisation and implementation of MHPSS activities (organisational retreats, trainings, group psychosocial activities) in the field
  • Overseeing and assisting project managers in drafting project proposals, budgets, reports
  • Ensuring continous and successful cooperation and organising regular meetings with psychotherapists, experts and other service providers
  • Representation of PIN’s MHPSS Program among the key partners and within the coordination fora
  • Providing the expertise to other regional programs and departments of PIN
  • Occasional coordination field visits to the target countries

SUITABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Fluency in Russian and English. Good knowledge of Czech is a strong asset.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the area of human rights, civil society support or similiar work
  • Relevant experience in social work, social care, psychosocial support
  • Skills required: organization, communication, empathy, tolerance, emotional intelligence
  • Overall understanding of political/social/civil society landscape, security risks for human rights defenders in the region of the former Soviet Union
  • Ability to effectively manage time and handle multiple assignments
  • Conceptual thinking and reliability
  • Proven ability to work both as an effective team member and independently
  • Experience in management of small teams (up to 5 people) is an asset
