BACKGROUND


The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is a multi-stakeholder platform and an action network, supported by a global secretariat that was established as an intergovernmental organization to support countries in their efforts to implement a more equitable and sustainable management of their water resources. The GWP network spans 13 regions with more 60 country water partnerships and over 3,000 institutional Partners in 180+ countries. More information: www.gwp.org.

GWP\u2019s 2020-2025 Strategy focuses on achieving significant progress on Mobilising for a Water Secure World, through three anchor themes: Water Solutions for the SDGs, Climate-Resilient Development and Transboundary Cooperation; as well as through three crosscutting areas: Engaging the Private Sector, Contributing to Gender Equality and Mobilising Youth for Water Resources Management. It lays out ambitious targets in line with global and regional policy frameworks, to generate leadership focus, progress measurement, development of partner action, and potential for financing.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

1. Support to the Executive Secretary

Assist the Executive Secretary in management of office and calendar Assist the ES in all travel and logistics planning related to his travel Provide daily updates to the ES on upcoming meetings/events Lead the planning and executing of all events related to the ES, with support from the Finance and Administration Team Support the communication efforts of the ES with internal and external partners

2. Support to the GWPSA-Africa Board

Provide support to the communication efforts to the GWPSA-ACU Board Lead the planning and executing of all events related to the Board, with support from the Finance and Administration Team Assist the Executive Secretary in all activities related to the Board. Provide support to the communication efforts to the GWPSA-Africa Board Lead the planning and executing of all Board related events, with support from the Finance and Administration Team Lead in the logistics planning for Board members for Board meetings, including flights, accommodation, etc Assist the Executive Secretary in all Board related activities

3. Event Management

Coordinate and lead the planning of all events related to the ES, Board Chair, and GWPSA Board, including but not limited to, logistical arrangements, liaison with attendees, IT support, media engagement, service provider management, and social media coverage.

4. GWPSA Content Development

Write a minimum of two good quality content pieces per month (200-500 words) for the GWPSA and/or AIP websites and submit them within deadline, as directed by the Communication Specialist. Assist in the sourcing of images for website articles. Support the Communication Specialist in developing communication products including, but not limited to, newsletters, programme brochures, briefs, country profiles, infographics, PowerPoints. This including gathering information, writing, sourcing graphics and photos, editing, and liaising with DTPs on layout. Timeously review and copy-edit documents including reports, letters, proposals, PowerPoints, etc produced by GWPSA staff as requested.

5. GWPSA Website Management

Together with the Communication Specialist, conduct regular updates of the GWPSA website Together with the Communication Specialist, work on generating new content (written and visual) to update the GWPSA website according to the 2020-2025 strategy. Update the GWPSA website in line with the 2020-2025 strategy. Update the GWPSA website as soon as new content becomes available, ensuring that content is uploaded without language or technical errors. Source photographs to accompany website content. Do regular clean-ups of website \u2013 removing all broken links or outdated content. Timeously attend to any content errors or technical problems on the GWPSA website, as they are identified.

6. AIP Website Management

Together with the Communication Specialist, conduct regular updates of the AIP website Together with the Communication Specialist, work on generating new content (written and visual) to update the AIP website Update the AIP website as soon as new content becomes available, ensuring that content is uploaded without language or technical errors. Source photographs to accompany website content. Do regular clean-ups of website \u2013 removing all broken links or outdated content. Timeously attend to any content errors or technical problems on the AIP website, as they are identified.

7. Support to the Production of AIP Publications

Support the Senior Communication Specialist in the researching and writing of content for AIP publications Source photos and supporting information for AIP publications, ensure all is stored in cloud storage locations, and all supporting information is captured accurately. Undertake any other tasks to support the report\u2019s production and printing, as directed by the Senior Communication Specialist.

8. Support to the Production o GWPSA-ACU Publications

Research and write content for GWPSA-ACU publications. Work with the writers of reports and the Communication Specialist to source photos supporting the content. Ensure that all sourced photos are stored in an organised fashion in the designated cloud storage location and all supporting information is captured accurately. Source data and information to support the production of infographics and diagrams to feature in the report. Undertake any other tasks to support the report\u2019s production, as directed by the Communication Specialist.

9. Social Media

Write/create/source content for all social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc Ensure that all content aligns to the strategic objectives of the GWPSA social media strategy, determined in August 2020. Ensure that all content posted to GWPSA is timeous, error free, aligned to the strategic objectives of the organisation and the style guide. Respond to all engagement on GWPSA social media channels Prepare monthly reports on GWPSA Facebook and Twitter performance indicators, as agreed on in GWPSA social media strategy, and submit these to Communication Specialist by the 8th of each month. Upload GWPSA owned photos to the GWPSA Flickr account, ensuring that all supporting information is captured accurately by the platform.

10. General

Together with the communication team, ensure that the cloud storage spaces allocated to communications remains organised and updated, and the primary location for all communication outputs, products or tools, and supporting documents. Together with the communication team, maintain the communication team calendar of upcoming GWPSA-ACU events and other events, which require communication support. Assist with GWP staff with IT tasks, which support GWPSA-ACU communication objectives. Liaise with external service providers necessary to carry out communication duties, such as photographers, DTPs, translators, web designers, etc. Together with the communication team, monitor all external communication issued by GWPSA staff to ensure that it abides by the GWPSA/GWPO writing style and branding guide. Undertake any other tasks aligned to communication objectives, as directed by the Executive Secretary and/or the Communication Specialist

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree in a relevant field, such as communications management or information systems. Five years of relevant and demonstrative experience in communication, administration, and logistics A sound understanding of GWP and its vision. Demonstrated problem-solving and online media skills. Experience in using Microsoft Office software, online media, Episerver content management system (CMS) and MailChimp (or similar platforms), Wordpress, Canva, all social media platforms, etc Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks at once, meet tight deadlines and achieve task objectives within designated constraints. Excellent written communication skills (including strong editing skills). Working within multicultural and international environments. Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions quickly and efficiently. Experience in organizing and executing high-level events Sound proficiency in spoken and written English.
