The USAID-funded Clean Cities Blue Ocean project in Peru, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest for a Social behavior change (SBC) Specialist. This position will be located in the country office in Lima.

The CCBO activity is a five-year initiative of USAID which will serve as USAID's flagship program to target ocean plastics directly at their source in cities and towns. The project works to prevent ocean plastic pollution by building capacity and commitment for Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling (3Rs) and solid waste management (SWM) in urban and peri-urban settings, particularly in riverine and coastal areas. CCBO works with multiple USAID missions on country-specific implementation of national and local activities, and with USAID/Washington on global-level activities.

He/she will serve as the Social and Behavior Change (SBC) advisor for the CCBO Peru Program. The SBC Specialist will be responsible for oversight and monitoring of research on behavior change, and the environmental education strategy to promote the proper management of solid waste in the cities prioritized by the program. In addition, he/she will be responsible for strengthening the local government´s capacities for the implementation of the information and environmental education strategy. He/she will support in the development of local management instruments for the institutionalization of environmental education and information policies or programs, considering the drivers of behavior change. The SBC will also promote coordination with different social organizations, as well as public and private sector actors to strengthen the promotion of good environmental practices for the proper management of solid waste, the promotion of a culture of recycling and circular economy among citizens, in accordance with the objectives of CCBO Peru. The SBC will incorporate a focus on youth and women, as appropriate, with an emphasis on gender equity.

Qualifications:

* Master’s in Sustainable Development or other relevant discipline.

* Minimum eight years of work experience; of which:

  1. At least five years of experience in the design, planning, and implementation of advocacy strategies for behavior change, at the national level.

  2. At least three years of experience in managerial or coordination positions in the public and / or private sector.

*Experience in municipal solid waste management, ocean plastics, materials management, recycling services preferred but not required.

* Ability to travel within the country up to 40% of the time (dependent on COVID protocols imposed locally).

* Ability to work under pressure and in teams.

* Fluent Spanish and Limited working proficiency in English

* Only Peruvian citizens are eligible for this position.
