Back Senior Program Advisor, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases

This position will be based in Geneva with Foundation of Appropriate Technologies in Health - an affiliate of PATH.

The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases program, as a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, refines and develops tools and approaches, supports national programs, and builds evidence and data to empower national governments to pursue malaria elimination.

Responsibilities:

• Provide knowledge of global malaria priorities and trends, regional context, and technical expertise, providing strategic guidance across geographies to country and project leadership.
• Provide strategic guidance and technical oversight for grant deliverables in the areas of resource allocation and alignment.
• Leads resource mobilization, seeking sustained support for NMCPs.
• Support day-to-day engagement with multi-lateral organizations, partners, and donors; coordination with regional partnerships, technical groups, agencies, private sector groups, and in-country/cross-country funding, and governance groups. Implement plans for enhanced coordination with PMI; Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria; WHO at all appropriate levels.

• Lead implementation of global engagement and enhanced partnership agenda, including but not limited to:

  • Participating in and contribute to relevant WHO working groups, expert review groups, and guidance/tool writing processes
  • Contributing to WHO-led workstreams related to tracking and mitigating COVID-19 disruptions
  • Participating in / co-leading (as relevant) RBM partner committees, including Elimination 8 Technical Committee
  • Maintain regular communications with the Global Fund to surface in-country grant-related challenges, reprogramming needs, and troubleshoot funding issues as they arise; participate in delegations to Global Fund Board as nominated.
• Mentor, support, and assist in-country staff in overall career growth and skill set building.
• Contribute to and review project annual work plans, budgets, and technical progress reports.
• Represent PATH internally and externally at donor workshops and meetings; at international conferences; and with peer organizations and private sector partners.
• Identify, initiate, and participate in new opportunities, program design, proposal writing, and other business development efforts.

Required Experience

• Advanced degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in providing technical guidance and expertise to malaria control and elimination efforts with 10+ years living and working in malaria endemic countries.
• Experience leading, designing, delivering, and influencing health programs in malaria.

• Expertise working with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders, donors and partners to develop and build consensus on implementation plans and manage them to success.

• Experience engaging and supporting USAID, BMGF, UNITAID, and other leading international development donors.

• Expertise working with international partnerships such as the Global Fund, WHO, and RBM Partnership both in governance and in implementing countries

• Ability to advise technical assistance and lead multi-disciplinary teams.

• Experience working in coordination with international, regional, and national NGOs.
