**Job Overview/Summary:**The Senior Finance Manager supports the Finance Director to oversee the finances for Northern California, in particular to manage and control the implementation of the accounting systems in the NorCal offices and analyzes IRC’s financial data in order to provide management, donors, grantors, creditors, and others with timely, accurate and understandable information. The Senior Finance Manager will have responsibility for overseeing one NorCal office directly and will support for other offices in the region.

Major Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Collaborate closely with the local program and development teams as well as headquarter-based finance, business development, and awards management units on grant/contract budget development, tracking and reporting and coordinate their submission.
  • Provide clear and transparent guidance to programs on their respective projects, grants and contracts; clearly communicate and facilitate financial discussions with non-finance staff.
  • Oversee the daily finances of one NorCal office.
  • Accurately track and analyze expenses and revenue; advise leadership with the objective that annual revenue exceeds expenses for all offices.
  • Ensure office compliance with IRC’s accounting policies vis-à-vis fund accounting as noted in IRC’s finance manual and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • In coordination with the Finance Director, review all accounting transactions to ensure proper coding and ensure all transactions are properly entered into IRC’s accounting software and review and take the proper steps on the balance sheet.
  • In coordination with the Finance Director, prepare monthly financial reports to submit to HQ as per scheduled due dates.
  • Reconcile regional office’s database against HQ’s database on a monthly basis and investigate and resolve differences.
  • Facilitate external and internal audits as needed.
  • Supervise the regional offices’ banking arrangements.
  • Prepare grant-/project-specific monthly actual to budget reports and coordinate the submission of approved reports with the Director of Finance.
  • Support the Finance Director on the development and submission of the NorCal budget.
  • Provide supervision, support, guidance, professional development, and leadership opportunities to finance team.
  • Assume duties of Finance Director as needed and serve as Acting Finance Director in their absence.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in related field such as Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Graduate degree preferred
  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible finance, budgeting, and accounting practices experience required, preferably in a grant-driven, not-for-profit, social services environment
  • Experience managing financial operations across multiple states preferred. Prior team management experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives
  • Ability to analyze complex data and advise leadership on potential courses of action.
  • Proven computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs; experience using Microsoft Dynamics, Integra, Power BI or other similar integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) software strongly preferred
  • Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet
  • Proven ability to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to effectively work with HQ finance staff
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
