Where you come in:

The Senior Coordinator is expected to oversee and facilitate activities to improve the quality of Save the Children’s humanitarian child protection programmes in collaboration with relevant colleagues within and outside Save the Children. The Senior Coordinator will particularly oversee activities and external representation related to Save the Children’s role in humanitarian child protection coordination, in close collaboration with the Child Protection Area of Responsibility within the Protection Cluster. In addition, 50% of the role will be dedicated to co-leading the inter-agency working group on the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPMS), within the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action. The role requires a significant amount of external representation, diplomacy, and inter-agency collaboration.

This role is a 12 month parental leave cover and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. Remote-based candidates may be considered.

In this role you will make an impact by:

· Driving the inter-agency work on Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPMS) in close collaboration with UNICEF and other organisations. This includes activities related to sector integration; country-level implementation and roll out; global and regional advocacy and events, and other activities in collaboration with the more than 30 active organisations involved.

· Leading Save the Children’s work on humanitarian child protection coordination and localization, including backstopping a 5-country localization initiative and supporting the finalization and piloting of a new toolkit.

· Representing Save the Children in inter-agency fora.

· Providing technical support to Save the Children’s inter-agency child protection coordinators in 8+ countries.

· Contributing to Save the Children’s global work on Child Protection and support activities related to improving the quality of humanitarian child protection programming across the movement.

· Collaborating closely with UNHCR on refugee child protection, including joint advocacy and learning events

Does this sound like you?

This role requires:​

· Masters degree or equivalent experience in a field related to child protection and humanitarian response, including social work, international relations, human rights, etc.

· At least 7 years experience in child protection in humanitarian action, including in direct humanitarian responses in a range of contexts

· Previous experience leading humanitarian child protection coordination groups in cluster or refugee settings

· In-depth knowledge and practical experience using the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and/or other humanitarian standards.

· Strong commitment to and knowledge of the localization agenda and previous experience working in partnership with national and local actors

· Proven history of collaborating with a diverse range of actors from regions and cultures and ability to adapt to their preferences and working styles

· Track record of delivering timely results, in a remote working environment with colleagues across multiple time zones, preferably including managing vendors and consultants

· Fluency in English, including excellent written and oral communication skills. Working language skills in French, Arabic or Spanish is a strong asset

· Project management experience, including budget monitoring and reporting

​Desirable qualifications are:

· In-depth knowledge of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, as well as familiarity with humanitarian standards in general.

· Excellent communications and networking skills in both written and spoken English

· Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills, and the ability to drive forward multiple initiatives at once

· Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and a willingness to learn new things
