NORDIC INVESTMENT BANK (NIB) is an international financial institution jointly owned by the governments of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. The Bank promotes sustainable growth of its member countries by providing long-term financing based on sound banking principles for projects that improve productivity and benefit the environment, including the green transition. The Lending Department at NIB is seeking a

Senior Banker, Country Lead, Latvia

to promote NIB’s visibility and standing in the Latvia and contribute to enhancing business opportunities with the aim of delivering on Lending’s strategy and business targets as well as accommodating more closely to key policy priorities of the Latvian government.

Main responsibilities

Develop, coordinate and maintain key stakeholder relationships and networks in Latvia, including government departments, public agencies and regulators, business sector associations, corporate and financial sector, think tanks, opinion leaders etc. In close cooperation with fellow bankers and other NIB colleagues, coordinating and promoting business opportunities, increasing awareness and improving information flow to NIB. Promote NIB’s visibility and profile in local markets by representing NIB in public fora to market the lending products and increase awareness of the Bank’s mission and operations. Develop networks and create leads to support the origination of new lending opportunities. Promote knowledge and awareness of member country policy, economics, markets within NIB. Contribute to the origination, execution and management of portfolio loans and providing support to transaction teams where needed.

 Qualifications and experience

A master’s degree preferably in Economics, Finance, Law, Engineering, Political Sciences or equivalent. At least 7-10 years of relevant experience e.g. from banking, finance or consultancy Capability to represent NIB at a senior level Existing client and stakeholders’ network Fluency in English and Latvian is needed

Banking and credit skills; knowledge of debt capital products and pricing; understanding of investment and financial analysis and its application in transaction structuring. Inter-personal skills; ability to team work, lead teams and build effective working relationships with colleagues and clients in a multicultural environment. Initiative, pro-activity and problem-solving; ability to initiate and lead business development activities. Integrity; ability to operate consistently within business guidelines and ethics. Communication skills; ability to communicate concisely and persuasively in verbal and written formats as well as convincingly giving presentations also to larger audiences. Confidence in handling senior corporate executives and officials of government and regulatory bodies. Negotiation and decision making. Organizational and time management skills; ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
