Senior Adviser Institutional Partnerships

Would you like to be a part of our international work for children’s rights? We are looking for an Institutional Partnership Senior Adviser focusing on our EU donors, in particular ECHO and INTPA (formerly DEVCO). This is an exiting time to join the team as we are embarking on the new strategy period and partnership with our EU donors.

We offer a temporary position (one year contract with possibility for extension) in the Institutional Partnership Section within the International Program Department. The Institutional Partnership Section ensures long term and sustainable donor relations, resulting in funding and policy influence contributing to the SC breakthroughs so that children survive, learn, and are safe.

The Senior Adviser is responsible for coordinating SCN’s overall portfolio and partnership with the EU by developing donor analysis and strategies for donor engagement, supporting fundraising efforts and capacity building. The role provides advice and guidance concerning donor funding cycles, compliance and fundraising best practice, ensuring a coherent approach to donor engagement across Save the Children. The Senior Advisor works closely with relevant colleagues internally in SCN and Save the Children International as well as with other Save the Children members.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Be the SCN focal point and coordinate SCN’s strategic engagement with EU donors including developing and providing strategic direction and steer for SCN’s partnership with EU donors.
  • Provide analysis and expert advice on the policies and priorities of the EU as well as best practice for fundraising
  • Assist fundraising efforts, including tracking and sharing information about new funding opportunities, undertake necessary research and data analysis, support selected proposal/reporting processes and assist reviews of grant agreements and consortia agreements
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues at SCN and country offices on donor expectations, requirements and compliance throughout the project cycle, with particular attention to complex grants
  • Facilitate information sharing and learning to strengthen internal staff capacity to fundraise and manage funding from donors, including development of procedures, guidance tools and materials
  • Coordinate with other Save the Children members to deliver on joint priorities and exchange best practices.
  • Collaborate with relevant experts to support advocacy efforts targeting EU donors
  • Support the overall deliverables of the Institutional Partnership Section and take on additional tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

We are seeking a self-driven, dynamic and structured individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills.

  • You are dedicated to Save the Children’s mission in ensuring all children survive, learn and are safe
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of EU donors, including strategic priorities, organizational setup and funding mechanisms
  • You have excellent understanding of international trends in development funding and donorship
  • You have documented results in fundraising, including developing donor strategies and plans as well as developing proposals and reports to government/institutional donors
  • You have a university degree (MA) or equivalent.
  • You have a minimum 5 years of practical experience from a humanitarian and/or development organisation or donor administration, either at HQ or field level.
  • You have strong planning and administrative skills, including a good understanding of financial reporting and budgeting.
  • You have high work capacity; you motivate others and enjoy working in teams.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and verbal
