Organizational Context:

  • Post/job is in Field Office. Incumbent is either at reception area or vehicles entrance-exit gates or conducting foot patrols around inner perimeters of UN-Hub; and reports to the FSCO or the designee.

Job Purpose:                     

  • Provide physical security throughout UN-Benghazi Hub to prevent harm against UN personnel, property, premises and visitors of UN.

Duties and Responsibilities (Not Exhaustive)

  • Remain alert always while on duty to deter, detect, delay and deny bad actors the opportunity to harm UN personnel, property, premises, operations and visitors.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced to operate security camera system.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable to operate and analyze security baggage scanner machine, Walk-thru Metal Detector and Handheld Metal Detector.
  • Responsible for physical and undercarriage mirror search of all vehicles entering the UN-Hub.
  • Responsible for verification of ID cards and other forms of identifications and registration of all personnel and visitors entering-exiting the UN-Hub.
  • Rapid response to all incidents occurring within the UN-Hub and taking appropriate actions while promptly notifying the FSCO or the designee.
  • Responsible to conduct foot patrols and inspections of UN-Hub’s perimeter walls, UN assets, security lightings, security cameras, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, UN/staff/visitors’ vehicles inside parking lots and account for them in the Daily Occurrence Book. 
  • Draft and submit Security Guard Daily Activity Reports stating minor or major incident, action taken and recommendation to FSCO or the designee. 


 

   

Education:

  • Completion of secondary school education. Graduate of Police Training School, Military Training, Private Security Training.

Experience:

   

  • Three or more years of continues work experience as a Police Officer, a Soldier, a Security Guard with an organization, agency, company, government.

Knowledge & Skill:

  • Take initiative, demonstrate sound judgement, alertness and emotional stability especially in emergency situations.
  • Ability to act swiftly but properly in case of emergency to assist resolve the issue.
  • Demonstration of integrity and discretion while performing duty.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationship in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Language:

  • Fluency (Level C) in UN language in use at the duty station.
