This position is located in the UNDP Security Unit, UNDP office in UN House Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Under the direct supervision of the UNDP Head of Security, Security Assistant will assist HoS in day-to-day activities, and he will be responsible for direct supervision of Security Guard Sub-Unit with primary role of ensuring Safe and Secure environment for UN House Sarajevo Personnel and Assets. Security Assistant replaces Head of Security in his/her absence.

Security Assistant will perform his duties during the staff core working hours. In extraordinary cases or during an emergency Security Assistant might be asked to perform SG duties in eight (8) or twelve (12) hour rotating shifts.   Duties and Responsibilities  

Coordination of Security Guard- Sub Unit: Day-to day management of Security Guard Sub-Unit. Maintain Security Guard sub-unit shifts, schedules and all relevant documentation. Ensure that the Security Guards report to their posts on time with required/assigned equipment. Ensure that entries in the Logbooks/Reports are accurate and in accordance with the SOP’s. Ensure that performance of Security Guards is in accordance with the prescribed SOP’s. Ensure that equipment assigned to the Security Guard Sub-Unit is in working conditions and accounted. Inspect/monitor CCTV recordings and alert Supervisor when malfunction or suspicious activity detected. Ensure that no unauthorized personnel gain access to UN facilities. Ensure that all persons removing equipment from UN premises present the equipment and valid document in which this action is duly authorized with signature. Conduct periodic checking of area in front of the entrance of the building and ensure that nobody parks the vehicles in front of the office, in coordination with local police. Conduct physical security checks of offices ensuring that they are properly secured. Provide security support for UNDP organized events as directed by Head of Security. Additional duties are defined in SSOP#1, SSOP#2, SSOP#3, SSOP#4  and other  security relevant documents.   Control Center and Emergency response: Ensure and maintain operation of the security control center including: UN House Emergency Line;                                                 Public Address System; Video Surveillance System; Detection System; Fire Safety and Suppression System;           Electronic door locking/access control system; VHF working channel for d/s Area Monitor UN House Emergency line. Act as a response officer during any emergency or incident. Support in the implementation of the UN House emergency procedures and measures in case of such event. Assists in reporting security incidents affecting UN staff, offices and assets, and assists in the preparation of security reports, such as the Security Incident Report, the Security Assessments and the Quarterly Incident Report. Issuance of UN ID Cards: Act as a response officer during any emergency or incident. Be familiar with emergency procedures and all issued Security Standard Operating Procedures and Contingency plans. Implement UN House emergency procedures and measures in case of such event. Know how to properly employ firefighting equipment should a fire be discovered on premises.   Assists in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating staff lists: Supports in the preparation and review of the UN Security Plan;
