The incumbent of this post is responsible to the School Principal and supports quality, equitable and inclusive education, and contributes to a safe, effective, and healthy school environment. S/he is expected to perform her/his duties including the delivery of quality and inclusive education through expert knowledge on pedagogy and relevant curriculum areas, classroom management, formative and summative student assessment processes, effective communication with parents and school community on students' progress and needs. The incumbent undergoes continuing professional development as required by UNRWA policies and regulations. Responsibilities

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
Ensures the delivery of quality and inclusive education to all students through 60%

identifying the knowledge, skills and pedagogy required for the delivery of subject curriculum taking into account individual needs of students.
preparing and delivering education using a range of appropriate learner-centered instructional strategies and techniques.
contributing to the enrichment of the host country's curriculum, where appropriate, to further develop academic and personal/life competencies of students and achieve UNRWA learning goals and values in line with UNRWA Curriculum Framework.
assessing students' learning through the use of formative, summative, and diagnostic assessment techniques; giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of students' progress and development.
maintaining a safe and effective learning environment in the classroom and on school premises m accordance with the UNRWA school 'Code of Conduct'.

Participates in the school co-curricular activities/committees and maintains links with the wider Education community to improve the performance and wellbeing of students including activities regarding social, environmental and health issues, and child rights and protection; 10%

Actively engages in school-based and other professional development activities, including maintaining up-to-date subject and pedagogic 10%

knowledge, and performs his/her duties in line with UNRWA approved policies, processes and procedures

Contributes to the systematic collection, recording, and analysis of data in line with the school and UNRWA EMIS system; 5%

Effectively and regularly communicates with his/her counterpart professionals, parents and school community regarding students' progress and needs; 5%

Contributes to the school policy planning development and evaluation 5%

(A, B) Academic and professional qualifications and Experience

I. Secondary Education Teacher -grade 09
This is the first entry level for partially qualified secondary education teachers. The minimum eligibility criteria are:

i) A university degree in a subject related to secondary education.

ii) No experience required at this entry level.

II. Secondary Education Teacher -grade 10
This is the second entry level for newly qualified secondary education teachers. The minimum eligibility criteria are:

i) a university degree in a subject related to secondary education.

ii) completion of a minimum one year pre- or in-service training course.
III. Secondary Education Teacher - grade 11
This is the third level is for fully qualified secondary teachers, promoted in the services, with the Agency. The minimum eligibility criteria are:

i) a university degree in a subject related to secondary education.

ii) completion of a minimum one year pre- or in-service training course.

iii) five years of teaching experience in the Agency as a fully qualified secondary education teacher at grade 10, of which at least the last two years should have been satisfactory or higher.

IV. Secondary Education Teacher -grade 12
This is the highest level attainable by fully qualified secondary education teachers. The minimum eligibility criteria are: I) ii) iii)
a university degree in a subject related to secondary education.

completion of a minimum one year pre- or in-service training course.

successful completion of School Based Teacher Development-II
programme (SBTD-11) when/ as offered by UNRWA Education.

ten years’ experience in the Agency, as secondary education teacher at grade 11, of which at least the last five years should have been satisfactory or higher.

Work Experience

Required to have as Secondary Education Teacher - grade 09 (the first entry level) with no experience, A university degree in a subject related to secondary education. Staff members appointed are eligible for promotion to grade 10 upon obtaining a pre or in service teacher training course of at least one year duration.

Required to have as Secondary Education Teacher - grade 10 (the second entry level) with completion of a pre or in service teacher training course of at least one year. Staff members appointed at this level are eligible for in service promotion to grade 11 after five years of teaching experience in the Agency as a fully qualified secondary education teacher at grade 10, of which at least the last two years should have been satisfactory or higher. Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and good command of English language. Assessment

Type of Contract: Employment Roster - Fixed Term Appointment
Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Desirable qualification:
Master's degree in education or related social sciences.
Conditions of service:
Monthly basic salary USD 1,101.50 at grade 9 and USD 1,139.60 at grade 10 + SOA of 2.43 % of basic Salary + SPLAI USD 167.00 for both grades.
Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 working days of annual leave during schools’ vacations, and dependency allowance (if applicable).
