The USAID-funded Clean Cities Blue Ocean (CCBO) project in the USA, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development, is currently accepting expressions of interest for SBC Specialist. This position will be located in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The SBC Specialist will provide support to specific grantees, coordination of CCBO activities with focal municipalities, local governing units in Semarang, Ambon, and Makassar cities, USAID clients, program partners and other external audiences; manages and develops technical projects and programs in CCBO focal countries, and communicates effectively with the CCBO Country Director for Indonesia on strategic initiatives that promote the vision and mission of CCBO. The position holder will report to the Indonesia Country Director.

Responsibilities:

* Work with grantees, technical officers of local and relevant national agencies to identify SBC needs in support of their implementation of their approved activities.

* As needed, develop SBC strategies for grantees programs based on the research findings and recommendations.​

* Serve as a resource, mentor and coach to grantees implementing Trials of Improved Practices (TIPs), as part of formative research, including in analyzing and interpreting TIPs data.​

* Develop and implement coaching, monitoring, and training plans for grantees to increase their capacity in SBC programming to promote 3R behaviors and improved SWM.

* Conduct SBC training for CCBO grantees

* Participate in the review of grant applications and relevant materials including concept papers, project descriptions, operational and training manuals.

* Provide other assistance, as needed and reasonable, in helping CCBO grantees to deliver the SBC aspects of their SOWs.

* Promote the progress, successes and learnings of CCBO to further program objectives and facilitate discussions on the SBC related topics on the solid waste and recycling strategies and municipal plans at the local level that promote the effective management of solid waste and reduction of ocean bound plastics.

* Deliver bi-weekly progress updates to Indonesia Country Director and other members of CCBO.

* Performs other duties as assigned by the Country Director to support CCBO program objectives.

Qualifications:

* Master's degree or equivalent with minimum of 8 years of experience in the solid waste and recycling industry or in relevant field or bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the solid waste and recycling industry or in relevant field.

* Experience in developing and implementing social behavior change approach for solid waste and 3R strategies with international development programs, non-governmental organizations, or the private sector.

* Experience in working with a variety of target group for social behavior change for solid waste management.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Comfortable being self-directed and working independently and/or as part of a team.

* Experience working with local private sector partners preferred.

* Fluency in written and spoken English.
