The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) is a joint project between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Brazilian Government to facilitate South-South Cooperation on key development issues.  The Centre carries out applied research and its goal is to generate knowledge resources to the global development community.

The main objectives of the center are to contribute applied research-based policy recommendations for inclusive growth and to facilitate South-South exchange and learning on key development issues. Toward these ends, IPC-IG not only conducts research, but also organizes thematic workshops, policy training seminars, advisory and programme evaluation missions for requesting countries, and hosts resident researchers.  The Centre regularly publishes Working Papers, issues of Policy in Focus, Policy Research Briefs and One Pagers to encourage policy debate and dissemination of knowledge.  IPC-IG publications can be found at: http://www.ipc-undp.org/pages/newsite/menu/about/pub.jsp?active=0.

The main thematic areas of focus for the IPC-IG are:  social protection and related topics such as cash transfers and social/single registries, poverty reduction, rural development, health and nutrition, amongst others. This Research position is within the IPC-IG Research team.

 

Under the substantive guidance of a Senior Research Coordinator, the Researcher is expected to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of the following:

Essential 

  • Master`s degree in the field of Development Studies, Social Policy, Economics, Sociology, International Relations, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Law, Demography or Political Sciences;
  • 2 years of work and/or academic experience within academia, University, government institutions, independent research institutions, international organizations, private sector or foundations;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English proven by certificate, previous work, academic and/or personal experience;
  • Professional or academic experience with research on social policies;
  •  Professional or academic experience with social protection (including social security and social assistance);
  • Professional or academic experience with research on social protection policies in developing countries;
  • Professional or academic experience with social protection administrative tools, such as Management Information Systems (MIS), including single registries or payment mechanisms;
  • Main author of publications (or co-author with significant contribution to the publication) in the areas of social protection, poverty reduction, inequality, child development or gender equality are considered an asset. In your P11 form, please list all your publications, and indicate your exact contribution to up to five of them you consider more relevant to this selection process. Significant contributions as a co-author imply writing a considerable part of the publication;
  • Working knowledge of any other UN official language is considered an asset; and
  • Work experience within the UN system is considered an advantage.

 

The salary for this position is BRL 7,380.00.
