Background

Under the direct supervision of the Resident Coordinator and the Team Leader, the consultant will be hosted at the Resident Coordinator Office and he/she will carry out tasks related to communication in order to contribute to the clear, coherent and consistent UN communication of activities of the UN’s work, specifically of the RCO and UNCT initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions:

The Consultant will promote and facilitate joint communication initiatives within UN Country Office in Angola. He/She will develop key communication products that serve as tool, processes, and resources for a more integrated communications strategy. The Consultant will also act as Public Relations for the UN Resident Coordinator. The consultant will manage the UN website and Facebook.

The key results have an impact on projecting the image and the activities of UN System in Angola and of the RC to the public, by demonstrating the impact of UN’s development results through active and accurate information dissemination.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Degree in communication or journalism;
  • Desirable: Master in communication, journalism.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years working experience in the field of journalism, public relations and media. Good knowledge of development issues.

Desirable:

  • Copywriting, digital content development, team management;
  • Other professional experiences within the UN System.

Languages Requirements: 

  • Native Portuguese;
  • Fluent English.
