About ICMC

The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is an international operating non-governmental organization serving and protecting uprooted people – refugees, internally displaced persons and migrants –regardless of faith, race, ethnicity or nationality. ICMC advocates for rights-based policies and durable solutions directly and through a worldwide network of member bishops’ conferences, and alongside government and non-governmental partners.

ICMC has been operational in the Middle East since 2002, implementing humanitarian assistance programs in support of refugees in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. Most recently, ICMC is providing emergency humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees in Jordan with funding support from the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (BPRM).

ICMC is recruiting a qualified protection assistant with the following requirements.

Support for Activities

· Support awareness raising session, literacy classes and all protection activities for women and men meeting ICMCs criteria.

· Successfully entertain and engage children in educational recreational activities

· Support the CFS activities in the protection center

· Support the transportation for the beneficiaries from and to ICMC protection center

Administration

· Assist in the registration of refugees who attend the Protection Centre and doing the Invitation for beneficiaries.

· Assist with various administrative duties, as required by the Protection Team leader **

General Coordination

· Facilitate the referral of vulnerable individuals to various organizations for appropriate service provision.

· Participate in weekly team meetings to support and coordinate the team.

General Communication

· Provide daily updates to the Protection Team leader regarding the day’s activities and incidents.

· Establish good communication and coordination with all ICMC departments and project staff.**

Other

· Strictly follow the ICMC internal procedures and guidelines, as advised by senior management.

· Ensure accountability to all project stakeholders, especially beneficiaries.

· Assist, when required in the completion of potential beneficiaries through outreach activities

· Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications and competencies:

· University degree in Social Work or related **

· Experience working in the NGO sector an asset

· Experience in working with children is a strong asset

· Experience in working with marginalized populations is an asset

· Excellent report writing and communication skills

· Ability to communicate effectively with variety of people, and express oneself in a clear and concise way

· Excellent Arabic spoken and written language skills

· Working level of English is a valuable asset.

· Excellent command of MS Office and other computer programs, including good typing skills
