The Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) aims to achieve results for children by maximizing UNICEF's private fundraising andadvocacy around the world. To carry out this mission, PFP coordinates fundraising activities and private sector partnerships with NationalCommittees for UNICEF and country offices (COs). The Country Office Development and Support (CODAS) unit in PFP’s Country Relationssection is responsible for the Division’s work with 140 UNICEF COs to optimise their in-country private sector fundraising and partnerships. Thevision of the unit is that these COs are “fully equipped and empowered to mobilize individuals, key influencers and businesses to support andrespect the rights of every child around the world”. The unit works closely with and through PFP’s outposted regional support centers / teams(RSCs) which provide the first line of support to COs.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the Senior Advisor (Regional and Country Support), the purpose of the post is to expand in-country private sector fundraising and partnerships in UNICEF COs, which will increase funding forUNICEF’s programmes in those countries, and for the global organization, as well as deliver accelerated results through partnerships Here’s how the successful candidate will do this:

Coordinate the annual process, and associated tools, for development and approval of Private Sector Plans (PSPs) in country offices withstructured Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) operations (“PSFR countries”). Coordinate activities to systematically build the capacity of senior staff in regional and country offices (focus on Regional and Deputy RegionalDirectors, and Country Representatives and Deputy Representatives) to maximise the potential of private sector fundraising and partnerships; toinclude timely orientations when such staff take up their positions. In coordination with the Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section, develop cost-effective approaches to growing PSFR incountry offices outside the existing set of established PSFR countries. This will include multi-country fundraising products and channels (e.g.digital, corporate partnerships); online learning resources; sharing of material and templates; cost-effective support mechanisms; backstop theRSCs in terms of support to and requests from such offices. As new external growth opportunities are identified by RSCs, which go beyond any one country or region, coordinate an assessment of thesewith other relevant sections in PFP, and progress these to decision and action planning as appropriate. Promote and support cross-fertilization of talent across the network of National Committees and COs. This will include staff going on assignment, mentorships and peer exchange. Maintain a short-list roster of professionals who can be called on by offices for specific support (e.g. market assessments, mappings) forprivate sector. Undertake other CODAS projects as they arise.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

An advanced university degree in business administration, management, marketing, fundraising or another relevant field is required. *A first level university degree in a relevant field combined with 7 years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanceduniversity degree.

Experience:

A minimum of five years of relevant and progressively responsible professional work experience, including at least three years in private sector fundraising. It is required to have knowledge of how UNICEF country offices operate; experience of working in a UNICEF country office is an advantage.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English required. Working knowledge of another UN language,(Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) would be an asset.

Mobility is a condition of international professional employment with UNICEF and an underlying premise of the international civil service and this position is classified as "Rotational" which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty (i.e. 5 Years in the case of Geneva HQ).
