DRC is seeking a dynamic and motivated Project Manager- Livelihoods to strengthen and develop the livelihoods team and programmes in Rakhine state.
Who are we?
DRC has been operating in Myanmar since 2009 and currently implements humanitarian and development programmes in Rakhine, Kachin and Northern Shan States. The overall programme objective is protection of civilians and promotion of durable solutions for vulnerable conflict and disaster-affected people. DRC’s work is based on humanitarian and protection principles.
The situation in Rakhine State has been made even more challenging and complex with the ongoing refugee crisis that started in August 2017. This will require an even more principled and innovative approach to livelihoods programming. The ongoing unrest, displacement, segregation and endemic underdevelopment all compound the usual challenges. DRC activities target IDPs, as well as other vulnerable populations from all communities.
DRC focuses on skills and market linkages for youth, small and medium enterprise development, informal financial services, community driven development and Disaster Risk Reduction to protect and promote early recovery. DRC’s current donors include DFAT, USAID, EU, UN agencies, the LIFT fund, GIZ and other private donors.
DRC is active across a broad spectrum of sectors including; CCCM, General Protection, Child Protection, GBV, Livelihoods, and WASH in Rakhine State. DRC also responds to frequent natural disasters in the State, including flooding, landslides, and cyclones.
About the role
The Project Manager- Livelihoods will need to be an agile and natural leader, able to manage a large and growing livelihood programme. The Project Manager- Livelihoods will develop, manage, provide technical guidance, report, represent the Livelihoods programme as well as develop the capacity of the livelihoods team, to deliver high quality programs. The Project Manager- Livelihoods will also be a strong communicator able to coordinate closely with the other DRC departments and sectors to deliver a coherent program.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Project Manager - Livelihoods will manage teams across Rakhine.

To be successful in the position you should meet most/ all of the following requirements:
· Minimum 5 years of practical experience in Livelihood sector in emergency, early recovery or remote management settings and at least 3 years' experience with people management
· Documented skills in project planning and design, drafting, calculation and technical writing
· Experience of managing grants e.g. EU/ECHO, USAID/OFDA, DFAT, GIZ, Danida
· Strong project management, budget management and report writing skills
· Clear communication, presentation style, good interpersonal and diplomatic skills essential
· Ability to work independently in a remote location
We offer
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 12-month contract, extendable based on funding availability. The position is placed in Employment Band F, level 2.
The duty station is Sittwe, Rakhine State, with occasional travel to Maungdaw and to Yangon as needed. Sittwe is a non-family duty station.
