It is focusing on strengthening the “capacity to prevent and respond” to environmental degradation, particularly in relation to biodiversity, forest management and chemical waste prevention and management. It is guided not only by UN values, but also by the 10th National Development Plan’s objectives with regards to integration of biodiversity and ecosystem services into development planning. The purpose of this portfolio is to improve the implementation of more effective policies and practices on sustainable environment, climate change, biodiversity by national, local authorities and stakeholders including resilience of the system/communities to disasters. UNDP is cooperating with various national counterparts in the referred field, such as Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, General Directorate of Forestry, etc. Climate Change and Environment (CCE) Portfolio seeks sustainable solutions for climate change adaption and mitigation action across sectors and initiatives to strengthen systems and tools for risk-centered and integrated disaster management and increase the resilience of society by also taking into account of differentiated gender impacts. The primary target will be rural populations in sensitive biodiversity areas/hot spots. Currently UNDP is working on different new fields addressing to the capacity needs in the field of environment.
CCE Portfolio will focus on three programmatic areas that complement each other: 1-Natural Resource Management contributing to sustainable environment management and conservation of natural resources in production landscapes, within the general framework of the ecosystems approach; 2- Climate Change and Disaster Resilience (including chemicals and waste) strengthening institutional capacities for analysis and risk management for resilience with a specific emphasis on climate change, and 3- Cooperation with relevant stakeholders to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The ToR at the hand is for the Project Assistant for Industrial Symbiosis Project within CCE Portfolio. The purpose of this program is to provide an enabling environment for smooth implementation of industrial symbiosis, through Research and Development component, which would create a highly qualified pool of experts to work in the field of industrial symbiosis in the future, a national policy towards widespreading and replicating the best practices in Turkey. The Project also includes implementation of pilot works for replication of industrial symbiosis practices.   Duties and Responsibilities   Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Assistant (PA) will provide the Project technical team with sufficient administrative support. In addition to their daily routine, the PA will also fulfil the tasks to be assigned by the Project Manager. The PA will be tasked to assist the experts to interact with the Project’s stakeholders and to translate the outputs of the Project.
The Project Assistant will work in close collaboration with the CCE Projects Implementation Administrator/Portfolio Administrator and CCE M&E Officer to ensure smooth and timely management of inputs.
The Project Assistant (PA) will be expected to assume the following tasks:

Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the project activities; Provide logistical support to the Project Manager, Grant Manager, Project Associates and short-term consultants in conducting different project activities (trainings, workshops, stakeholder consultations, arrangements of study tour, etc.); Organize meetings, help drafting the business correspondence with the Project Team and other communication with the project partner Support the project outreach and PR activities in general, including keeping of the project website up to date; Keep files with project documents, expert reports; Control the usage of non-expendable equipment (record keeping, drawing up regular inventories); Keep regular contact with project experts and consultants to inform them about the project details and changes; Draft correspondence and documents; support the finalization of correspondence of administrative nature; Act on telephone inquiries, fax, post and e-mail transmissions, and co-ordinate appointments; Provide interpretation during project related meetings and events; Translate documents from English to Turkish or from Turkish to English as deemed necessary by the Project Manager. Perform any other administrative/financial duties as requested by the Project Manager; Provide support to preparation administrative documents such as tender documents; Assist the CCE Projects Implementation Administrator and/or Portfolio Administrator in document provision and having the very zero draft documents – Procurement for the completion of project-related procedures and processes; Follow up UNDP administrative procedures in terms of procurement and/or finance; Provide support to PR activities of project. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Political/Social Sciences would be desired. Experience: 4 years of relevant experience (with Secondary Education) or 1 year of relevant experience (with Bachelor’s degree) preferably with the international organizations.

Required skills:

Experience in Microsoft Office, Windows-based applications, integrated web-based management systems, spreadsheets and databases. Strong interpersonal skills, communication, and ability to work in a team Strong report writing skills

Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section:

Experience working in collaboration with governmental organizations. Experience in organizing and coordinating events and activities. Experience in at least 1 project within the rules and contractual procedures of UNDP. Minimum 1 year of technical knowledge and experience in the field of industrial symbiosis or environmental management projects with industries.

Proficiency in Turkish Basic knowledge of English
