Headquartered in Barcelona, the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to helping fragile and conflict- affected states achieve more sustainable negotiations and transitions out of war or authoritarianism. IFIT’s core work is to serve as an expert resource on integrated policy solutions for locally led efforts to break cycles of conflict or repression.

IFIT is currently seeking a full-time Project Assistant with a focus on work primarily in our projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Role: Under the supervision of the Head of Office, the position is focused on providing operational, administrative and logistical support primarily for IFIT’s MENA projects.

Work schedule: Full-time (40 hours a week)

Starting date: May 2021

Duration: One year (renewable)

Location: Barcelona. However, remote working arrangements may be necessary temporarily due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Responsibilities include:

· Operational and administrative support for the implementation of IFIT projects primarily in the MENA region, especially in relation to events and meetings (e.g., invitations, logistics, reservations, scheduling, correspondence).

· Taking minutes of meetings and writing brief reports.

· Basic Arabic/English translation and interpretation for selected project activities.

· Help with other tasks according to the needs of the organisation (communications, fundraising, office administration, project filing, etc.).

Desired qualifications:

· University degree in relevant field.

· Two years of relevant professional experience.

· Mother-tongue level Arabic; and strong command of English.

· Strong organisational and planning skills.

· High attention to detail and professional demeanour.

· Familiarity with conflict and political issues in MENA region, including countries of IFIT’s work (Syria, Libya, Sudan).
