ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Based in Hong Kong and reporting to the Director for Hong Kong, the Programs and Administration Assistant will be responsible for providing support to all programs and operational needs of the Hong Kong office. He or she will provide support to the Hong Kong Pro Bono Clearinghouse connecting pro bono lawyers with NGOs and social enterprises working on diverse social issues. The Programs and Administration Assistant will plan and coordinate logistics for workshops for NGOs and law firms, as well as PILnet’s Global Forums and other PILnet events. He or she will also be responsible for designing newsletters and preparing content for communications. He or she will also provide any other administrative support that may be required by the Hong Kong office.

The Programs and Administration Assistant will apply his or her technical skills, education and experience to:

• Provide assistance in compiling and sending out the monthly Hong Kong Pro Bono Clearinghouse list;

• Plan and coordinate logistics for PILnet workshops, as well as PILnet Global Forums and other PILnet events;

• Support the Hong Kong office with administrative matters;

• Support the Director for Hong Kong on data management for the Hong Kong office;

• In coordination with PILnet’s Technology and Communications Officer, manage communications including updating Facebook and Twitter and preparing newsletters and promotional materials;

• Provide support to other aspects of the Hong Kong program, including the Hong Kong Pro Bono Roundtable as needed; and

• Other tasks as requested by the Director for Hong Kong.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree in communications, social sciences, international relations, public administration or related field.

• Fluency in written and spoken English as well as Chinese (Cantonese).

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the nonprofit or public interest law field.

• Strong interest in public interest law, social justice and human rights.

• Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities whilst maintaining a professional approach.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work with an international team.

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.) and Google Apps.
